Who would have thought after Abbey destroyed Jordan Hasay her at NCAAs, Jordan is the one going to Moscow!!

Learned a tactical lesson today that may profit her in the future.
hasay moved up to the less competitive race. smart move

which was what?
run the last lap faster?
Her PR for 800 is 2:08. HSers run better in 2:03s...
She just doesn't have the speed. Perhaps the 10,000.
Abbey = washed up or overrated? Kidding, but somewhat surprising given how well she does in NCAA competition.
Too bad. :(
She's so beautiful too...
This was not a tactical problem for Abbey, I think her tank was empty (emotionally and physically). Only so many times in a season you can dig... look at Corey Leslie, started the year on fire, running 3:58, beating Manzano and today came up empty.
Very, very, few HS girls run 203

Yeah all she had to do was beat Kara Goucher and run 32-low in 90 degeree heat...
Abbey would have jumped at the 10K if it was that much easier.
Less competitive?
The 10K race had four Olympians up front...
Shalane Flanagan
Kara Goucher
Amy Hastings
Lisa Uhl
Abbey really did look tired during the race. It's been a long season and she had a lot of quality races.
I think she'll survive. Somehow. Someway. Cute girls always do! :)
Still needs the B standard, not going to Moscow yet.

Destroying Hasay in a NCAA race is not even remotely close to racing Simpson, Huddle, Rowbury, etc.
These are professionals with faster PR's.
If makes perfect sense.
Not to mention, I feel bad for Amy Hastings. She looked like the heat was getting to her, and then to DNF. Such a shame, to go from winning the Oly trials, to getting squeezed out in the 10, and DNFing in the 5k. Hope she bounces back!

They both raced a tough field:
5k PRs of 5k field:
Huddle: 14:44
Rowbury: 15:00
Simpson: 15:05
Konley: 15:09
5k PRs of 10k field:
Flanagan: 14:44
Goucher: 14:55
Uhl: 14:55
Hastings: 15:09
