What'd he end up getting? A six year ban? Six years? That's like half of your freakin' career, and yet he still came back and is running with the best. Whether or not that's "aided," I'm impressed he returned to the sport at all.

It's 100% aided. Not really impressive that a doper is doping again and running fast.
What's wrong with doping?
You say that like it's a bad thing..."doping" just is a substance that lets you reach your full potential. It isn't going to give you superhuman abilities...an 11 flat 100m guy isn't going to run 9.5/9.6....a 15 min 5k guy won't run 12:30 or something even close.
I've never understood he big deal behind all this.
of course he's doping
he cant come back 8 years later and replicate clean what he was doing doped
human nature or basic math
take your pick
Because it's banned meaning that particular substances are not allowed to be taken by athletes who compete.
If you cannot understand why taking banned substances is wrong than I do not know what to tell you.
As for your comment on superhuman abilities - PEDs offer superhuman recovery (this isn't even debatable) among other things.
Want an example? There was an Irish athlete a few years ago who went from 30:00 to 27:30 from EPO use. A good responder and is a real world example that demolishes your theory.
100% correct. Gatlin has not just replicated his times though. HE'S RUN FASTER THAN HE DID WHEN HE WAS ON PEDs 8 YEARS AGO. Gatlin's running is a complete and utter joke. The only thing it proves is the effectiveness of doping.

doping is the difference between winning and losing
it's been that way for 40 -50 yrs
if it's not the eastern bloc ,it's the italian blood dopers, north african ,east african epo,us sprinters
one common denominator
doping makes you a winner
the winners have always been the dopers right through history
how does posters on letsrun not get this simple fact
they think people is clean cos they not injecting in front of the camera huh!
Doping makes a huge difference you can run fast without talent and build speed even if you dont have it naturally. Ive seen a guy go from 11.1 to 10.0 with dope.
of course they can
a lesser guy that responds well to the peds will take down a more talented guy
70-80 % on peds at the top level of track and field
Yeah well I know that now lol seeing a guy run 10.0 with ZERO TALENT blew my mind. Yeah track is just a shady, dirty sport. Once you get serious and start training with elite runners you start to notice how every camp has a "doctor" that works with the athletes. Ive even had coaches preach in practice that drugs are not the way to go and anyone mentioning them will be tossed from the club but then tell everyone in person to make sure to go see the "doctor" for "supplements" LOL. I think they just didnt want some of the younger kids training with elite athletes in the camp to know the truth
Show your sources young man.

well, yes I know it is banned. Just in my opinion, it should not be. What's wrong with a guy taking EPO in order to get faster? And neither 27:30 nor 30:00 are super-human. That user's EPO just allowed him to reach his potential. Until you try it, you will never know how fast you can be.
It is just my opinion that humans should be allowed to put whatever they want in their bodies. It's their body--not WADA's.
And, yes, some performance enhancing substances help you recover faster. Like chocolate milk. Also, drinking a lot of water to stay hydrated will improve your performance. Ever try not drinking water 1-2 days before a race?
Did you know that of the 20 common amino acids, 10 are not produced by the body? Is it "wrong" and "unnatural" to ingest these via other sources (fruit, vegetables, etc.)? Of course not.
And no, I can not understand why taking certain substances is wrong. Why is it wrong to want to run faster times? If you want a hematocrit of 55, what's the big deal? Again, EPO/other PEDs will only allow you to reach your full potential, nothing above what your body can physically do.
What if he's been telling the truth all along. He was sabotaged. That would explain why he is running the same times he was running before he was "doping". Just saying... Have at it doping proposals.

In my late 40's - I started T injections and in 3 months I was doing speed workouts I couldn't touch in high school. (I was only a 1:56 800 guy) with no delayed muscle soreness. The only limiting factor was joint pain. Kida around the starting line would say, "Wow, look at that guy" I was pretty ripped.
It was nothing short of phenomenal - and this was with a very low dose.
If you're ever going to be a good troll, then you gotta learn to tone it down a bit man. Trying too hard.
I don't believe Gatlin needed dope in his early 20s. It didn't make Marion any faster.
Not trolling, I just believe in human freedom.

Plenty of humans are free to put whatever they want in their body and do whatever training to run whatever distance. What they are NOT allowed to do is compete in IAAF sanctioned events. You want to get better at running and risk the side effects of dope? Go for it. But if you want to be part of the sport, you have to abide by the rules.
You can go down to your local gym and kick and carry the basketball and set up a trampoline so you can dunk.
Just not in the NBA (or any organized basketball league).
See the difference?
4 years you idiot
The only reason for banning it would be - if it gave side effects that led to diminished health/an early death - Surely this is why PEDs were banned?
If there are no scientifically verifiable side effects, then why ban it? I acknowledge this would be hard to gather long term for all PEDs.
But there must be effects - look at the East German athlete who effectively got changed into a man by all the testosterone she was given. And thickening the blood enough to cause earlier heart attacks etc.
I get that we still need to get certain amino acids from our diet - if we have always gotten it from diet, why would it change? And look at skin colour - we now get enough vit D from diet - but all light skins aren't reverting to dark skins. Don't know where I'm going with this hah. But the idea is to improve your performance in a safe way - not all out which leads to dying decades earlier than you would have otherwise/having poor health the rest of your life after you retire. I can understand some would still go for the glory anyway even with this possibility.
