Ashmeade in 9.99. I believe these results are now official.
wow, if that wind is accurate thats an insane time for bailey-cole and nickel, did bolt ease up???
I don't know anything about the race other than supposedly Bolt had a bad start (surprise, surprise)
Good show by Bolt. Nice to see his 100 dropping more and more. That's a 9.86 basic with tons of room for improvement. Gay isn't safe yet.
I don't see why people are still surprised when Bolt runs fast. HES FREAKING USAIN BOLT, TRIPLE WORLD RECORD HOLDER, THE DOUBLE TRIPLE OLYMPIC CHAMPION.
Dope is kicking in nicely. Should be an interesting WC.
Have you heard about Yohan Blake...
Most likely Powell hadn't fully recovered and just wanted to give it a shot.
Low-quality video is up.
Poor start from Bolt, but not his worst. He eased up before the finish line again, but not as much as he did during the rounds.
Yohan has a bye.
The straight 100 should be easier on his hammy too.
Hope he gets healthy, it would be nice to see all of them in the 100 with Gay 100% and 4 Jamaicans.
Bolt was behind until 80m versus a couple scrubs. US 1-3 unless Yohan gets his act together quick.
cool, thnx for the vid, bolt looked like he turned it off at 80m, KBC gapped bolt at the start but bolt got his top speed back, he no doubt will be running really fast by worlds, cant wait for Bolt vs Gay, Gay just seems like he wants it so bad this year, but Bolt always performs at the majors so its gonna be crazy.
versus a couple of scrubs? LOL all 3 Jamaicans basically ran 9.8/9.9 flat with NO WIND. In fact Ashmead is as fast or faster than Gatlin on this run. US doesnt even have 3 solid 100 meter sprinters that can compete outside of Tyson Gay/Gatlin. Right now Bailey Cole and Ashmead can beat Gatlin so who else is there?? US is not deep at all except with guys running 9.9 with a bunch of wind behind them thats not going to cut it lol
Adjusted:
Bolt 9.87
KBC 9.91
Ash 9.92
ASHMEADE! What have I been telling you guys?
"Look for him to make a big splash in the 100m pond in 2013, and to maybe displace Carter on relay leadoff, unless Carter manages to maintain his fitness or improve slightly."
"I hope to see Ashmeade strong by Rio. I don't know what he's like mentally, but unlike you, I think the potential is there. I can feel it, in my "bones"."

"Ashmeade got out like a rocket, as he did in Orlando. THAT GUY MEANS BUSINESS. He cannot be ignored. I just had the same feeling I had watching him, as I had 2 or 3 years ago when I saw Blake lose a race...the hair on the back of my neck was standing up. There is something about the way he ran...aggressively. He wasn't just running to compete, he was running for the win. He was taking it to the field. THAT is the kind of attitude that makes for champions.
You can see it, you can sense it, just like you could sense already last year that Wariner was done. Ashmeade now has that intangible quality...he's mean, he's not threatened, he's had a taste of power. If it weren't for Gatlin's 9.80-quality run, he would have gotten beaten.
I think that Bolt and Blake are safe for this year, but Ashmeade is coming for Powell. He's already at least the equal of Carter, Frater, and others, and he's young and moving up.
If Powell doesn't get his act together, he will not be going to London this year in the 100m. Incredible though that would be, Ashmeade is coming for him. He's not quite there yet, but he's close, and he's coming for him.
I can feel Powell's uncertainty and fear from here."
"Ashmeade is the anti-Powell right now. Look at Powell--he is possibly the most talented 100m guy ever. Why does he still lose races? Psychology, that is why. He even acknowledged having given up in Rome, although he didn't seem to think that it was a problem (he is entirely wrong).
You will see, just as Powell can lose races even though he is the most physically gifted, Ashmeade will have success because he is psychologically aggressive, which is required for somebody who is on their way up to expand their envelope."

"Mark my words: if Ashmeade stays healthy, HE will be the next one"

ASHMEADE!
Oh, KBC and Bolt were good, too, but Bolt was expected to win. KBC finally delivered on his long-standing promise, this would have been a very solid 9.8x by both him, and Ash, had there been some tailwind.
Ash ran a good race, hard to pick apart technique from that vid on youtube. KBC still looks to have visible room for improvement, which is very exciting to see.
Wow, can't wait for a better vid.
lol Bolt, lifting well, stepping-over again, not very fast, but cruising in for the win. Very smart. Gripped slightly, but still ran fast.
Amazing.
Relay, anyone? Blake who??
Is there confirmation that Powell is injured?
He could still be named to the relay, no? Say Blake isn't fit, Powell is in there.
I told you guys that his start in the race earlier this year in which he bailed wasn't that great, even though it looked alright, because although he appeared to have essentially the same form as always, he wasn't applying power to the track.
Same thing happened here--HOWEVER, if he survived this race to train another day, he might get some of it back by the time Moscow rolls around.
However, I think the danger zone for him now is anything that demands sub-10 effort, and that he knows it. I don't know if he injured himself early on in his effectively-sub-10-quality run, and I hope not. I would like to see him on the relay.
Like I said before, though, there is still plenty of time for him to withdraw or bail between now and Moscow.

KBC and Ashmeade are scrubs--9.9mid/high guys at their best. How many 100s have they beaten Gatlin or Gay in?
Basic times are bullshit. Everybody that has actually run knows that, unless you think there is no such thing as a crosswind or you think the wind is the same in every lane.
You are right about crosswinds and different wind in different lanes, but KBC and Ash are hardly scrubs, and they are now both solidly not MID/HIGH 9.9 guys at their best, they are LOW/MID 9.9 guys at present.
If you think basic times are b.s., then what would you have said had they had a tailwind instead of a headwind and had both gone mid-9.8x? Would they no longer be scrubs and be solid mid-9.8x guys?
Get real. They are both really good--not just good, but REALLY good, and, I think, clean, which makes them even more impressive. They are almost at the limit of clean performance, except for the boltosphere.
Nice to see KBC and Ashmeade, they both look believable to me. Same with Weir. Collins must have great telomeres, or genes that keep him in tip top shape, guessing he will live a long time too (probably snag some masters records as well lol). Reminds me of some of the top UK sprinters, look at Christian Malcolm (consistent mid-20 200) or Marlon Devonish who I just saw on TV (european team champs) has retired. Consistent career - 16 years making every team, 80 medals he said and of course 3rd bend runner in the 4x100m Athens Gold medal with Gardener, Campbell, Devonish and Lewis Francis. Looks like Powell gave up at 85m when he knew he wasn't top 3, watching the vid, although maybe his injury got tight.
Relay - KBC, Blake, Ashmeade, Bolt? Carter switching into 1 for Blake or Powell in a heat for the final leg? Top 3 were clear, Powell may recover a little and has experience, Carter is a known lead off and they still may win even with a little less speed and simple consistency to lead off. With a little recovery and return to form Powell would be 4th, Carter 5th, but it's to be seen if Powell can at such a late stage and bearing in mind his age/injury history now. It could be risky to have a heat runner blow up - but would bolt want to run an extra leg to guarantee that not happening? Even today's half injured Powell I think is probably good enough for the relay heat last leg.
Heat - Carter, KBC, Ashmeade, Powell/Blake (Don't know where blake, kbc usually go in relays exactly)
Final - Carter, KBC, Ashmeade, Bolt
Thinking about it, I could see Ashmeade and KBC going faster in the next few years, probably under 9.90, maybe 9.85-9.89 in peak form, but for now if they hit a 9.91-9.95 that is still mighty impressive. Looks like they are coming into that form looking at the vid. You never know, looking at Carter 9.78 Rieti. Carter now looks like low 10.0 form, but Jam can afford to lose a tenth in the relay and still win I would imagine. But if USA can ace the handovers, perhaps it would be close - Rodgers, Silmon at 10.0, Gatlin 9.9 and Gay 9.8. Matched up with Carter 10.0, KBC 9.9, Ashmeade 9.9, Bolt 9.8. So Jam by half a tenth to a tenth? I think the gap depends on Bolt's shape in WC. I feel Bolt/Gay will be a classic match-up this year, but Bolt should edge it by the usual margin if he gets into WC shape. There's no denying Gay has impressed me this year with his times so far, not seen USA trials vid yet for described bad first half 9.75.
