That's not a dig dude, that's regret.
Alberto is a thorough guy, and who knows whether everything works...for instance "cryo-sauna's" there's some science doubt about that...but who knows.
Something in all those gimmicks...the weird off balance weight training...all of it adds up...something may be helping...and maybe some of it helps ease the mind and stress of monotonous training.
She's now missing all that attention to detail.
that was a really, really weird interview.
I don't think it was a dig. I think she was just venting some frustration at losing to Hasay and Erdman. She was obviously not pleased with her result and was just venting a bit. No big deal.
Cook's team has gimmicks to...I kind of like the ice vest Rowbury was wearing...she stated she wore right before the race and right after.
were do I get one?
Not a dig on Alberto. She was pretty candid that Alberto was the better tactician at the 10k champs. I think Kara is getting frustrated with her current plateau. She hasn't been able to break through in the marathon. She can no longer just show up on the track and beat everyone. She has run for the best coaches in the business and has the best training partner available in the US. She is at the point where she may be realizing that this is as good as it gets.
Gimmicks? This is a woman who wears an "energy balancing" necklace for pete's sake.

She said Nike gave them out a few year ago, do a search: Nike Ice Vest.
Now if they could combine that best with a camelback wearable mini beer keg, they'd have a lot of takers.
The OP is misleading. If you watch the interview she specifically says gimmicks like the ice vest, not just gimmicks. Gives a lot more context to the quote.
Actually, do a search for Nike PreCool Vest.

Here's a video with the guy who designed it:

As far as I know, it was never released to the public. As someone else posted, others are selling similiar units. They also don't look difficult to make. Just need someone to sew on some gel packs to a snug fitting vest, drop in the freezer, and there you go!
And I'm almost certain Kara had one in Beijing in 2008, so she either doesn't have it still, or didn't really think she needed it here.
A very good point. Goucher turns 35 on July 9. She's not a youngster anymore and the there is tremendous up-and-coming young talent as well. She may very well be entering the decline phase of her career where she gets a little bit slower every year and gets passed by the younger generation of runners.
Your getting older, Kara. Deal with it. Can't be on top forever.

My guess is she got complacent, underestimated conditions and competition and it bit her in the butt. Sad.
Maybe it is like the time she publically thanked Dr. Gunderson (EPO expert)before putting her hand over her mouth and squealing "oops".
I'm afraid we'll see her career decline the same way we saw her husband's career decline. Years and year's of frustration before finally hanging up the spikes in a way that made the career not look as bright as it was.
