Yeah, was sure this would happen. Mixed gender race I guess? Legal for 2013 worlds.
Lets go smoke weed about it.

When did this become legal? I thought there was conversation about this not being allowed when Huddle ran in one of those Boston New Balance meets with men.
Good to hear, looks like Jordan made a legitimate effort for it tonight.
Salazar will probably use one of the males in his group to pace the effort & call it a hard tempo run. Think about it, he'll set up the race so it barely goes under the standard (saving them for Moscow), and one of his runners can get in a good 9k tempo workout.
He's said it's going to be in Oregon, so you won't see any of the "super-speedsters" like Rupp/Ritz etc pacing, but i wouldn't be suprised if Puskedra was in it (and then doing 800m repeats out by Amazon Trail afterwards).

...good luck with that
There is only one women good enough to run against and she already has the standard. Who else is good enough or will agree to pace Jordan through 5K in 16 minute in a race that has no meaning (medals or money)? Unfortunately, the top American distance runners are heading to Europe to make some money. The only time a European circuit meet has a 10K is when Dibaba or Defar decides to run one.
AlSal is a good coach, not a magician.
Which part of they would be running against men, who would be the pacers, did you not understanding? The IAAF rules allow for mixed races (as long as five runners finish the race):Performances achieved in mixed events between male and female participants(see Rule 147) will only be accepted under the following circumstances:o For all field events and races of 5000m and over held completely in thestadium the results will be: Automatically accepted if achieved at National Permit competitions Accepted only with the Area Association's approval if achieved atcompetitions under IAAF Rule 1.1 (i) and (j) Never accepted if achieved at competitions conducted under IAAFRule 1.1 (a) to (h)

32 low in the heat is not a strategic race, especially for a runner with a 32:06 PR.

Slow? Tactical?
I volunteer. Hell, I may just try to get the A standard too!

Burke is an idiot 90% of the time. This race was fast and tactical if you want to use the word. Flanagan took it out hard and dropped them.
get a life OP

You honestly think qualifying both Hasay and Erdmann will be easy? Hasay has had plenty of opportunities to get the standard and has failed and Erdmann has yet to show she's capable of getting the A standard. I hope they both get it, but it's going to be a hard, grueling effort to get the standard.

Plenty?? I count one.
Her first 10k she tempoed the first half, with no expectation of coming close to the standard. Her second, she openly said she was gunning for the standard, and she missed the B by a second.
Her third was the NCAA regional round. We all know how that went, but even if she hadn't bonked, it was clearly not going to be a standard-hitting race.
Maybe count NCAAs as a missed opportunity, given the conditions, but even then, it's a championship race, not a time trial.
Give her a couple weeks and the right conditions and it's highly likely she'll get it.
Hasay just missed the standard by 13 seconds in the heat & humidity of Des Moines. She also went out suicidally fast in the beginning with Flanagan. With better pacing/conditions, she's probably in 31:45/50 shape, imho.
31:45 is 2:32 800m pace. They went out in 2:26.
The pace was definitely too fast for Hasay, but not insanely so.
I bet Hasay will just miss the A standard, and both her and Erdmann will get the B. So it will be Flanagan, Hasay, and Hastings going to Moscow.
Erdmann looked the best to me of the two of them.
She kept looking back and waiting for Hasay. Had she been on her own I bet she would have run somewhat faster. Idk if she can run 31:45, but definitely under 32 minutes.
