Who would win if they both went head to head in their seniors years? Lukas seems more of a time-trialer opposed to Saarel's racing. I would probably take Lukas either way.

In what event?
LV 100x/100
saarel would win in an 800. I highly doubt lukas could run 1:50/1:51. but anything 1500/mile and up and Lukas wins
400m or 800m, Saarel would probably have it
1500m, mile, 3000m, 2-mile, 5000m, would probably go to Verzbicas
100m and 200m, not particularly sure, but I doubt anyone really cares.
For those who would protest that LV would win in the 1500m and mile, remember that he beat Austin Mudd, who was an incredible kicker, not to mention other very strong runners including Gedyon, Cheserek, etc. in the mile.

Well lets level this playing field even more. Let them race when Saarel is a senior(18 yrs old) and Verzbicas is a junior (also 18 yrs old). Saarel wins all across the board!

How does requiring them to be the same age level the playing field?
Lukas skipped Junior year. Was an overage sophomore, but normal age senior.
As others have pointed out, Lukas graduated in the class of '11 as an 18 year old. LV wins every time in one mile and up, and I bet he wins in the 8 too, did he ever even run one?
Saarel would win up to 3k. Lucas simply could not produce a hard enough pace to drop him. Saarel's from altitude. Every race he's run this season, he's looked incredibly comfortable the entire race. That's why he has a huge kick; he's so strong. Verzbicas could go out in 1:58 and Saarel would easily outkick him. Lukas could go out in 4:15 and then burn himself out, letting Saarel unleash a 57 and mowing him down easily. However, at 5k and up, it's all Lukas.
I don't think I agree with Lukas winning a mile. Saarel's closing speed is much better.
iIl go with Saarel for 1500/mile and down. I think that if the weather had been better at the dream mile this year, Saarel would have broken 4.

Austin Mudd also had a much better close than Verzbicas, as well as a better PR than Saarel.
He still lose to Verzbicas
**lost

Saarel can't take Verzbicas in a 3k.
Verzbicas could run an 8:40 indoor 2-mile leading from start to finish.
Saarel's outdoor 3200m PR is 8:45, which simply shows he doesn't have the strength to be in contention.
It's also extremely questionable as to whether or not Saarel could beat in in a 1500m or mile. As I remember, Mudd could close in like a 26 second 200m, and had a HS PR of 4:01 in the mile. Verzbicas beat him by 2 seconds in the Dream Mile.
Verzbicas can't outkick Saarel so he wouldn't leave it to a kick. He would run the middle of a mile harder than Saarel could handle, like he did to the entire field at the dream mile.
I think Saarel has much better strength than people give him credit for. In his workout video on Flotrack, he talked about how he hadn't really been doing many short repeats but rather lots of long intervals. He also said he thinks that he kicked so well because all of his strength allowed him to feel fresh heading into the final lap. Saarel takes LV up to 2-mile, but still can't beat LV in the 5000m.
Saarel may have the *potential* to be great, but LV actually ran sub-4 and crushed the two mile record. He also won the cross country titles with such ease he was almost bored.
Again, it's just a damn shame what happened to LV considering his running ability....
At least he is running again, I would like to think he could come back. Look he was in an all comers meet down in san diego..

Moot argument anyway, but Saarel's 8:45 was at altitude, all alone.
