Guys, I am looking for a serious answer on this. What did he do to improve substantially. From contesting for a 8th place finish to running away from the world record holder. Did he read something or have an "expirence". If anyone has any ideas on how anyone can improve, I'd like to know. The same goes for Rupp.

Mo had everything one would need to be the best in the world when he came to Salazar EXCEPT strength.
The addition to power and balance strength training coupled with sprinting training and voila, modern Mo.
Rupp's success is example of slow, concise and thorough training with one coach under a very long-term planned approach.
Obviously whatever Salazar does works on certain people.
This doesn't mean everyone could benefit from Salazar's approach.

Other Africans grew up in a third world country. Third world's make strong people.
That's all I got.
Think about it , distance running in the UK has been a on downhill slide for years poor coaching and infrastructure. Mo , knew he was not getting better , he was smart enough to reach out to contact Alberto. Nike has developed the best support infrastructure on the planet. Alberto's formula of coaching works for Mo as seen in his results. Mo had the talent , just needed the extra to help him reach his potential.
If we had more of this high level type of coaching and infrastructure support we might see performances improve for a greater number of athletes.

Salazar has said Mo's normal training pace was ridiculously slow - like 7:00/mile. I think having to adjust to normal training runs at sub 6:00, plus the smart supplemental work, alter-g, Nike infrastructure - i.e. massage therapists/strength coach/PT guy, etc. all helped a lot.
Farah was 6th in the 2007 WC 5000m race and 7th in the 2009 WC 5000m race so he was running with the lead pack before Salazar. It's not completely implausible that a change in training methods netted him 15 seconds and the ability to close faster. It's also worth noting that the world record holder had slowed down a great deal by the time Farah was running away from him.

Farah had already run sub 13 and now he got added miles, faster easy miles, added speed, a very, very good training partner, and better support for recovery to do the above. Did he also get some "legal" drugs for "legitimate" conditions too?
True, Bekele is no longer running low 26s for 10 so it makes Mo's current level look like a bigger jump, but still Mo has gotten *much* better. Does anyone know Mo's SB's for 5 & 10 for the past 6 or 8 years?
Mo Farah has always been super talented he ran 7:38 3k, 13:09 5k, 3:56 mile 7 years ago, he also was 3:33 1500 runner 4 years ago (2 years before joining salazar).

Mo trained by himself prior to linking with Galen. He had PRs of 3:33 and 12:57 before Salazar. Salazar increased his mileage, he got a training partner, and he ran his mileage faster. The result: 12:53.

Alberto said Mo came to him pretty weak on core strength and the arms.
Something crazy, like Mo couldn't even do ten push ups or something.
Mo said he also needed to improve his rest.
