I checked it out and unfortunately this guy isnt trolling? Aggravated it during the path to ncaa's apparently.
Why not?
And this is why some discretionary system is needed.
If 'qualifier 3' has a poor time and EC has the A std or whatever, there should be a way to put her in if she is healthy and obviously better.
Now maybe we have three good SC runners, I really don't know.
World finals? She was 9th in the Olympics as one of the youngest competitors. Probably top 6 this year

Jamie cheever ran a 9:29 to pressure Coburn at Payton. With a good training block between then and worlds I think she can make the final.

If she was healthy and obviously better, she would be able to run and qualify like anyone else.
Healthy then, not now, smart guy.
Whaaat,
I watch for tight top?
Coburn's issues are as much a comment on our collegiate system as they are on the Team USA selection process.
She ran at PAC12's, 1500m at Oxy, then Regionals and then two rounds at NCAA's. that's a lot of racing.
She is clearly the dominant US steepler. By Far. We may have seen her brush up to that AR this year. No one else is even close. She won NCAA with a "broken" back! USA was always gonna be a race for the #2 and #3 spots on the team. Now USA will be represented by the #2, #3 and #4. huh
Oh that is sad. Perhaps my favorite young runner.
Glad she announced it. Track is too mysterious about injuries. I like the transparency. I trust her. I will always be a fan
Great announcement and respect for the fans, the competitors, the sport. Classy move. Get well soon!
well she got sorta lucky the best decided to change their speically.....Jenny B and Anna Willard....
and possibly the girl named Bush who got injuried because of no fault of her own....and never been same since
so domimnant is relative

Not really. How many of those race were less intense tag her practice sessions? Your issues are more of a comment on this insane failure to comprehend over-racing. Just like all the morons who thought Ritz over raced in HS when he barely worked up a sweat in dual meets.

Exactly, it was dumb. She should have turned pro after she made the Olympic team during the Olympic hype.
Athletes are so STUPID when it comes to college athletics. You don't get paid to run NCAA's, its slavery. Someone with her looks would do very well as a professional, now she gets one less year as a pro. Thats a lot.
And these college coach moron career destroyers want to do the same to Mary Cain that they've done to almost everyone else. When is enough enough?
Typically overraced, yes, slavery, lolz. If you don't like it, be a normal student sans athletic scholarship.
I can maybe see the case for star football players who have to play 3 years before the NFL, and there aren't many other viable options as far as alternate leagues. But in general, come on, a 21 min xc 5k girl who brings in 50 bucks in revenue getting a 15K scholarship (or for that matter a 17m xc girl), any tennis, lacrosse, baseball, swimming, gymnastics, wrestling athlete brings in essentially no revenue. Or Joe Blow riding the bench his whole career playing football, being put up in hotels and flying around the country, probably Costing his school money a lot more money than he generates even before considering the scholarship. Slavery...

This is very sad indeed.
Best wishes on a speedy recovery for her.
