Henry Lelei clearly false started in the steeple. If he had been running for another school would they have let it go like they did?

You are correct and the ags will win the championships because of it!

I didn't see who the starter was...but I can tell you from experience that the starters in Eugene tend to be kind to non-sprinters. Not sure if there is any bias, I think they just understand that there is noise and most of the distance runners haven't been racing at places with so many fans, noise etc.
I false started once and the started gave me a gift. (Lost my balance).
I'd rather see the guys race. What I'd rather not see is 25 year olds racing.

I take offense at that.
Races that use a two command start should have a two false start rule* while the three command start events(where getting a flyer would actually help) stays at one and you are a spectator.
But until they change the rule this selective -let's call it the camera click exception will be used in every Invitational Meet will continue.
*or at least a one falsie charged to the field rule.
I was not watching the start so I have no comment about this specific race. If an athlete was bumped, pushed or there was an actual "startling ambient sound" the starters call of no FS falls under his primary charge to "insure a fair start for all"

That makes sense, especially on the water fall starts.

Sorry man, I just have no interest in watching someone over 23 from anywhere, beat anyone in the NCAA.
There's no perfect analogy, but if an SEC team were able to import older pro players...the NCAA would change that rule.
I can see the 6th year extra year in extreme exceptions, like the guy who was shot and had to have 3 surgeries...
But watching older Irish guys, or older Aussies, or older Australians beat 22 year olds...is about as sporting and about as interesting as watching a high school junior drop down and race a middle school champs.
At least Henry Rono told the truth about his age and his advantages.
I was mostly kidding, as I'm a 26 year old D2 runner.
However, I think that your assumption that age is always an advantage is incorrect. Additional years of training is an advantage, which not every 25 year old D1 runner has.
I'm a good example of that, but I'm not a sub-14 guy so nobody cares.
Chris Weinke led FSU to a national football championship when he was 27. He won the Heisman when he was 28.
The NCAA did not change the rule and it could happen again.
The false start should be eliminated for any running event over 400 meters.
No one that ever false started a race other than a sprint race did it intentionally to get an edge.
It happens when they hold the gun and nervous runners take a step.
Call them back and start again.
The only events this rule should apply to is the 100-110 Hurdles or the 200 where catching a "flyer" can make a difference.

Yep.
In my state some top seeded 4x400 girls high school teams got DQ'd from the state meet in back-to-back years because some old dude held them in "set" forever. No guilt or anything for a 15-16-17-18 year old girl to go through with a false start DQ for her team. It's more important that good old Harvey is freely relaxed with that arthritic neck that takes him three seconds to crank around before he starts the gun.
But, hey, the start on a 4x400 is crucial and rules are, in fact, rules.
It just doesn't make any sense.
A false start DQ in a Steeple would be outrageous. I bag on Oregon as much as anybody here, but they know how to run a meet, assuming they get the steeple barriers at the right height, of course.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
