I'd say she's doing more than ok on the American stage. Most runners only dream of making an Olympic team, and she made it. But making an Olympic team is not what the original post was about. It was about how well she'd do when she got to the Olympics. She finished 8th, 13 1/2 seconds out of the medals. I think this is exactly what the OP predicted.
This may sound harsh, but what's the alternative? Pretending that she's done better than she has?
The truth is that only a handful of US women shine on the world stage at the 1500 or the Steeple. So far, Quigley has not been one of them. I hope this changes.
In the meantime, that I recognize that she's not running at the same level as Ferichs or Coburn, Simpson, Uceny, Rowbury or BMart doesn't mean I don't appreciate her, or root for her. It just means I appreciate her for what she is.
