What a horrible fluff piece. This is set up so that when Mo gets beat we can all say "it took a lot of courage to even start". It is so obvious that this is a set up to protect the athlete. I don't blame Alberto for attempting to pass this garbage. But Ken Goe needs to **** and stop being a PR machine for Alberto.
If it's true, then that's an interesting twist on all the farah bashing on the boards today. But it could be totally made up, too.
So Farah is a built in excuse if anyone beats him at the 5k.

and Ken Goe will run a story about it.
"Salazar said Farah and Rupp roomed together that night at a hotel. Neither slept, Farah because he constantly needed the bathroom, and Rupp because Farah was so weak, Rupp had to carry him there from his bed."
C'mon, seriously? Even if this is true, which I doubt, why would you tell anyone this?
hope he doesn't have post-viral fatigue

And, of course, it could be much better informed that all that Farah bashing on the board today, too. Not as much fun, of course, but better informed.
If this story is true then he deserves MORE bashing. Athletes in every sport play hurt or sick or less than 100% all the time. For people in your inner circle to let this out is pathetic.

He's already qualified for the 10k at World's and so any race before August is a meaningless tuneup. Having consistent training is more important this time of year. You can get away with missing practices in the major team sports (football, soccer, baseball, etc..) but not with running.

There is no way in hell that's true. Do you think Salazar, with all of his support staff, would really let Rupp stay up all night with Farah, toting him back and forth to the bathroom? If that was true, Farah would also be in the hospital and not dropping down to run the 5k. Its hard not to lose a lot of respect for Salazar for feeding the such a reporter such a ridiculous quote.
Total BS. Let's see, Farah was so sick he had to be carried by Rupp, but somehow finds the strength to fly to England, run a 10K, returns to the US, and is too sick to run again? This is a prime example why T&F in this country struggles to create a fan base.
agreed, if you believe this article, then you might as well still wait for the god damn tooth fairy to drop you a few dollars in quarters after someone knock all your teeth out for being such an idiot.
And he still traveled back to London to run that road race, but were suppose to believe he's still sick and has not seen a doctor or specialist. Sounds like the old coe/ovett or aouita/cram days again

Most likely hyperbole and reporters exaggerate stuff all the time.

That was BS and untrue, But, extremly hilarious. Please give us another one
Agreed this is crap - also I find it a bit unfair to Salazar's star pupil, Rupp. If Rupp beats Farah it doesn't give him the accolades of beating a healthy Farah, as everyone is going to think he only beat him because Farah was ill- how unfair is that?
But then again, maybe the Farah illness plot is legitimate?
I am incredulous that Farah is even attempting to run. Almost heroic after his serious illness. I heard through the grapevine that Rupp that night picked up the phone twice to call an ambulance but Farah begged him not too. That room was disgusting after that night but Farah is still attempting to run. He was courage I haven't seen since those marines lifted up that flag at Iwo Jima. Wow!

If Mo Farah came down with such a serious viral infection, there is no way Rupp would even sleep in the same room. I can't believe Salazar said that.
