He's back what? A 45 doesn't seem that good
I think he needs his EPO.
Well, it's improvement, considering the conditions.
Right now, it looks like, unless Nellum completely runs out of gas after NCAAs (and that's certainly happened to people before), Wariner has to beat Mance and McQuay to get a spot on the team in the open 400. And it's really not time, but relative performance that matters.
Mance ran 45.08 at MtSac, Wariner was 45.35 I think, and McQuay was 45.15. It's probably going to come down to a dogfight in the USATF finals between those three, and it appears that Jeremy is gaining on them. Also Bingham, who beat Wariner recently.
So I think Hart and Wariner have something positivie to take out of this.
BTW, I'm wasting a few minutes in Austin where we're trying to actually get ALL of the NCAA regionals in, and the weather sucks (again). It rained here again earlier and is now clearing. So you have the situation where there's water everywhere and the humidity doesn't feel far from 100%....and the temp is 80F and rising.
So if Hasay "liked" things 2 days ago.....
It is not easy being a big time D1 coach.
Montsho's time in the W 400 was fine.
I have to think Wariner is disappointed in this result.
Does he not need to beat Merrit in the US Champs as well as Mance, Nellun, McQuay et al?

^^This.
Merritt and Nellum seem to be out of reach for anyone else in the US now. The 3rd 400 slot is up for grabs. It appears to be very close between Mance and Wariner now....and due to the aerobic emphasis earlier, Hart athletes tend to come into form late.
Wariner has to beat Mance, not the clock.

Wariner has to beat Mance, McQuay and everyone else. And, he won't do it running 45.7 -- or even 45.3. The time is obviously a factor.
Guy is past his prime. He needs to try the 800m.
Like I declared on another post, Wariner is officially finished.
The other guys will rise to the occasion, and Wariner will fold like a cheap lawn chair.
If he has some sort of miraculous resurgence, it will not be due to training. He is incapable of any significant training response anymore.
Montsho is a beast right now, she has to be after not even medaling last year.
She beat Allyson, and now she broke 50 again in these conditions. Its a different situation to say the least.
You can't even run under 6 minute pace or 5k. You suck. Quit being so dramatic.

The 800 is for slow past your prime guys??? Rudisha would kill him!
The fact that you wouldn't tell me such a thing to my face makes me not care

I get your point, but he did just beat McQuay running exactly that time.
But the Big O was >52.
Yeah, a 45 in 55mph winds and 35 degree F temperature isn't that good.

3rd place is "back"? Losing to some Belgian scrub? I think not!
That "Belgian scrub" got 5th in the Olympics and has a PB of 44.56.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?

How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?

Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
