Exactly. This is nothing new. Tons of South Eugene guys and girls headed to Colorado or Arizona...

Many South Eugene stars went out of State: Dirk Lakeman and Jeff Hess to Arizona, John Gustafson to Indiana, Steve Surface to Washington, Seth Brown to Florida, the list goes on. When Bill McChesney chose Oregon over Arizona and Penn State, I was a little surprised, only in that the pressure he was putting on himself being the hometown prep hero, and with all the established stars-Chapa, Salazar, Clary, etc. already at Oregon.
