More things about which I was right:
1) Gatlin is still fast, but has lost his transition
2) Rodgers is having a banner year, and will PR not counting his bogus PR from Eugene. His real wind-legal PR is 9.94, which he came VERY close to breaking in Beijing
3) China is in a desperate race to produce a sub-10 sprinter before Japan. If there had been slightly more wind here, Su would have done it.
What a race! Patton bails from the race with some sort of ailment.
Rodgers leaves Gatlin in the dust over the first 50m--I mean, it looked like he had more than a meter on him! And Rodgers finished decently, it was just that Gatlin finished admirably.
USA 1-2-3 in the world. Gatlin isn't as fast as Gay, nor is he likely to be this year. This is Rodgers' coming-out year after his suspension stupidity. Gatlin needs his transition back--there is no way he will compete with the best until he gets it. It's almost like it's taking him a while to settle into the 100m race, which means that he might have a relatively better 200m year than 100m year.
IIRC people on here have been saying that he was a better 200m runner anyway, and it looks as though that might just be true.
I was really looking for the Chinese to go sub-10 in this meet. Too bad the wind wasn't a little better! Also, look at the success the Chinese are having in other events like the jumps. It's about time.
