I don't understand at all how this is offensive. It implies nothing negative about blacks, it does stereotype, but in a completely unoffensive and harmless way. Obama does this all the time.

You are not a critical thinker because you didn't think through your examples. For instance, the reference to Asians eating noddles or sushi is not normally used in a derogatory way the sense chicken is used for African Americans.

To the guy who said the thing about his wife's pants, it is not the same thing implying that a woman is fat is directly offensive because being fat as a woman is culturally considered a bad thing and embarrassing. Eating fried chicken is not.

People find stereotypes offensive because they imply homogeneous behavior. It doesn't matter if they are positive or negative. Asian people don't like the assumption that they are good at math because it implies a belief that all Asians are the same.

Tell me about other stereotypes that aren't offensive and some that are to try to help you understand why his were.

There is definitely some heightened sensitivity when it comes to golf and race. Many of the clubs Tiger plays tournaments at would only have allowed Tiger to be a servant a few decades ago. And many have few or no African-American members. So, pro golfers have a responsibility to put on the best face possible for the sport when it comes to racial sensitivity. If golf is purely a rich white man's sport, the PGA will not prosper. If golf is all inclusive in terms of race and economic status, the PGA will do well.
Yet, even outside the golf world, joking that an African American should like some fried chicken is still offensive. Fried chicken was a popular dish among African American poor in the south because it could be prepared easily using an open flame and a large pot of cooking oil. Today, fried chicken is seen as comfort food and is served in nice restaurants. But, back in the day, fried chicken was what poor people ate because the ingredients were simple and cheap and it was easy to prepare without a proper kitchen. So, joking that African Americans should like some fried chicken is a way of saying that African Americans belong in poverty.

I really don't know the correlation between fried chicken and American black people or why it is a stereotype.
I always thought that white people ate it at the same rate.
I do understand that it is a known negative comment and that people bring it up directly inferring to someone about them being black.
Sergio knew that and therefore it is wrong.
If you do something that you know people will find offensive, regardless of facts about that action, then you are being offensive.
Same thing with the confederate flag.
There are facts about history and heritage of that flag.
But people get offended by the sight of it and those that wave it know this.

It really isn't very offensive. I fail to see what the big deal is as Tiger Woods probably does eat fried chicken. It isn't as though Sergio said anything about serving grape soda, watermelon, and Cheetos, which the stereotype of the typical balanced meal within the black community.
