I think he means all those guys went to high school in Jacksonville
Gotcha
Clark may be the only former Jax prep.
Interesting that none of them went to Arkansas considering how they have dominated this event.
You are correct about Clark. He is the only one of those who was a HS athlete in the Jax area.
Brantley lived and trained here some in the later years of his career, in the marathoning years.
I do not know Rogerson. I'll have to ask my dad.
Williams owns a house in Ponte Vedra beach last I knew. And when Van Alstyne was still coach at UNF, Williams helped out occasionally. Quite the volunteer assistant, huh? My parents know him, having gotten to do so through their association with the Gate River Run. Todd won that race numerous times, setting a then-AR of 42:22 one year. The story is he just fell in love with Jax and the beaches area and when he was reaching retirement, decided it was the place he wanted to live.
Chris Mutai is from Kenya, as you might guess. He attended and ran for Jacksonville University for two years before transferring to Alabama. I had the GREAT fortune to be an assistant women's coach at JU while Chris was there. What a pleasure to get to know him and to see him train and run. He is a very intelligent, humble, hard working young man who was one of the most positive and thankful people I have ever known. I was sad to see him leave JU for Bama, but understand why he did. Obviously, it was a good deal for him...and for Bama.
Dr. Chris Mutai would surely appreciate your kind words.
Cool! 904 rockin
John Rogerson was in US Navy before attending UF.

That's awesome! I see he is an optometrist. I had no idea. I lost touch with him after he left for Alabama, as I had moved on to grad school at UF.
I'm very happy to see him doing so well, although not surprised at all to see him succeed.
John Rogerson was a teammate of mine at UF.
He is from Upstate NY and was in the navy.
However, the OP is correct in including him in the Jax area 10K champs. John's wife is from Jax and he adopted it as his hometown while at UF. He ended up becoming a lawyer and settling in Jax.
We had an incredible team back then- Brantly, Rogerson, Blaney, Jeff Pigg, and many more. Go Gators!
