Does anyone have a recommendation for a foam roller to purchase for IT band problems? Particularly one that worked for you or someone you know? I cannot determine from a website what really does the trick!
Thank you...

They great foam rollers, and they are on sale.

Really they all work the same. I got a Pro-Tec one because the foam is over a hard plastic pipe so it is much sturdier. The solid foam ones squish in in the middle eventually, but they are also cheaper.
Thanks so much for the replies!
I read two things about using foam rollers:
1) Stop on sore points until the pain decreases a bit.
2) Avoid rolling over bones.
Well, my sore point for the IT band is the outside of my hip. So should I stop the foam roller there for a bit, or would that be too close to a bone?
Sorry for a possibly silly question!
I think the point about bone is that the roller only does good on muscle or connective tissue. It's like a massage. Bone (like the side of your knee or your actual hip bone) won't be affected by rolling, and it will probably just hurt.
For IT band, just roll it as much as you can stand and over time the rolling won't bother you as much.
For IT band stuff, I'm a big believer in hip strengthening. Here's a thread on it.

IMO, massage, rollers, straps, tape, etc. are just treating the symptoms. To get at the cause, you need to get your hips stronger.

Disagree. You need to strengthen *and* lengthen your muscles. Foam rolling helps lengthen the muscles by breaking up the knots/trigger points.
