It seems like Cain should have a good nickname, but I don't think she does. Come to think of it, who does have a nickname? Any of the big boys, like Mo, Rupp, Ritz, etc.?
Wouldn't it be more interesting if they had names like "Gale Force Wind" Rupp, and "Mo Power" and "Ritz Cracker", etc., etc...?
But what about Cain? What should her nickname be?

"Ritz" is his nickname.
I would call Mary "Insane Mary Cain", but I would mean it to be complimentary, and others might not see it that way.

The Emperor, The Black Cactus, and Kip are the only nicknames for distance runners I can think of that aren't just variations on their names.
Nicknames are a dying art in sports. I realized the other day that Miguel Cabrera doesn't even have a nickname. Reading stories about baseball in the early 20th century, nearly every player in the lineup went by a nickname.
What about something that also makes reference to her youth, such as "The Babysitter"?

Yes, he does. I've heard announcers repeatedly call him "Miggie Mac".

Her nickname should be "Ah". Then she would be "Ah" Mary Cain.
