avalanches happen every day in the mountains. Big ones. Massive ones.
Ironically, a lot of what we call "natural disasters" are really (generally) only disasters only when they involve people; an avalanche hits a town or a group of skiers, etc.
but to rank them is silly; depends on the scale of a specific event. A drought can be absolute non-event; or it can easily be an incredibly devastating event, for a given region.

Location, location, location! It all depends on your point of view (or proximity to populations) as well as magnitude.
A volcano eruption on the scale of Krakatoa or Mount Mazama would be cataclysmic, as would a large meteor.
Drought because they cause famine. Famine might not be as glamorous as fire spewing out of the earth but the effects are horrible. Droughts can last for months/years and starve entire populations. The suffering during these times are beyond what most disasters can cause. Entire generations can be hugely impacted. I am talking about mothers watching their children die simply because they have nothing to feed them. The suffering is long lasting and even those who survive (especially children) suffer from the malnutrition for the rest of their lives.
#1 Flood - Ask Noah
Easily super volcano.
apparently its the hurricane that release the most energy...I figured it would be an earthquake but i was mistaken.
Struck by giant meteor.
It's always worst when it happens to americans.

The question did not involve which of these releases the most energy.
As far as the OP's question - the worst is a drought (as far as disasters that any given individual could be expected to witness directly or indirectly in their lifetimes).
Fatalities in the millions. No other disaster comes close. Further, it is a prolonged, agonizing death as opposed to the typical death dealt out by a tornado or earthquake.
Overall, drought is by far the worst.

Blizzard above tsunami, are you kidding me?
Caldera (supervolcano) eruptions.
If the one in Yellowstone erupts like it has twice in the last 1.8 million years
Years/decades of global volcanic winter
Several missed growing seasons for most of the country
Massive death of livestock in most of country
Spectacular ash-loads will:
Clog water pipes
Collapse buildings
Close roads
shutdown powerplants
ground aircraft
ruin car engines
widespread respiratory illness
So many people would need help that it would overload the government. No help would come to most. No food in the grocery stores, no crops/livestock, no clean water/ no central heating.
Hungry, freezing people would begin to kill each other for resources, and some kind of warlord system would replace our republic.
If you live East of the Mississippi you have a chance, but the stock market would crash, food would be rare, and the government would either be tyrannical or toppled (lets hope tyrannical)
