I'm 20 and stupid hip pain is really ruining my quality of life. I had patellafemiral pain syndrome for the past 4 months. Finally it got better in April. Then my hip started aching on the same leg. It's on the outside of the hip - I think that would be the "lateral hip". Pain feels like it might be around the gluteus Medius. Just an achey pain most of the time. Not super painful but annoying and I want it gone. I've been doing quick hip exercises almost daily (leg raises, resistance band walks). Not much but still haven't really seen improvement. I've been getting back to running since April. I am not really willing nor do I want to take a running break again because I was out FOUR MONTHS and lost all my cardio. I have built it up for 6 weeks now and it's getting there. I feel the hip on runs, it's not that bad I just don't want this to become a chronic issue. I'm sick of this and all these problems. The strengthening doesn't help wtf is wrong. I can tell my left hip/side is weak. I can't squat or balance that well on my left leg anymore. I have no idea why. I ran 4 years of high school and never had this problem or weakness.
Someone tell me who to see. I don't want to waste $50 on a copay to see my general doctor when she is just going to touch my hip then send me to a specialist anyways. I'd like to go directly to whatever specialist I need to see and just pay out of pocket to get something done. Like I said the pain isn't unbearable but it's very annoying and I just feel uncomfortable even sitting and walking now. I will get a cortizone shot if that will instantly fix this, I don't care at this point. I just want to run normally again. Please help I've been putting this off thinking it will get better but it's time to fix it. Maybe it's bursitis idk. Putting a tennis ball pressure on the spot feels a lot better and even hurts a bit in a good way. I don't know if that can make the problem worse or not but it gives me mild relief.
Please tell me who to go see and what I should do to get rid of this
