According to LetsRun.com commentary they think she could sign for 7 figures right now. Any agents care to comment on this? If it's true, she needs to capitalize on this asap!

Remember when Sharapova won Wimbledon when she was 17? Mary Cain is the Sharapova of track.
Here's a list of Sharapova's sponsors:http://www.mariasharapova.com/sponsors.aspx
I have no doubt Mary Cain can get AT LEAST 7 figures, with a large portion coming from Nike. She is the greatest female talent born on U.S. soil.
Mary Cain's accomplishments are awesome, and I don't want to take away from that. But how in the world can Nike justify giving her that kind of sponsorship deal? Even if she's a better talent than our best guys (rupp, ritz, lagat), how could she possibly be 'worth' more than them? Very few people care about distance running, and far fewer care about women's running, just the way it is. Do you really think she'll bring in millions of dollars of sales for Nike, or is this simply a charity donation from Nike to support one of our best talents.

That's dumb. Track does not have nearly the sponsorship dollars of tennis. Cain is not as photogenic as Sharapova.

7 figures? The ignorance of this board has a new leader.
Obvi get here to endorse some kind of online teen girls clothing company. I have no idea what's out there. Imagine if runningwharehouse had a marketing campaign with her saying, Nike on sale at runningwharehouse.
This would work by having a Mary Cain app for your phone that sends weekly or monthly mailers via email promoting her brand(s).
Also, redesign NikeRunning app as a version for youth women's. Right now the app is great and the foundation is already there.
Other things... Ummmm lip gloss with electrolytes lol
.. I can do this for days
i think it's very possible if she can get a 6-7 big sponsors. at roughly 150-200k each, you can easily reach 7 figures. that number will grow as she wins titles, especially gold at og.

Who sponsors track and field athletes? I mean in tennis you have shoes/apparel, racket, watches, water, cars, etc. Does track have any significant sponsors outside shoes?
Is she a good artist? That's the only way she'll draw 7 figures at this point.

Hall has Nissan, Vizio, and At&t...sooo ya...
If she can get through puberty and grab some golds at OG no doubt she can pull 7. How does a swimmer like Phelps make what he does in a niche like that.
I think she could be an excellent stand up comedienne. She has that mind-moving-110-miles-an-hour, self-deprecating, light-hearted nature to her, and comes across as a funny kid.

Thanks, I knew there were some others. Meb has Visa. Some athletes have McDonalds.
If you are successful enough you can make big bucks I have no doubt. It definitely helps, as a female athletes, if you are telegenic (which is why Sharapova makes more than S. Williams).
I just don't think Cain measures up at this point in terms of success or appeal.
16 is too early to tell how photogenic she will eventually become. Looks change with age, some for better, some for worse.
I picture Cain as the type who girl who will go from nerdy to glamorous, with a high IQ and several gold medals, in othe words, a marketing goldmine once she gets 20s.
She should just go with the Hail Mary play. I would.... If I was her.
Webb's first contract when he was 19 after he left Michigan was for 250,000 per year for 6 years.
still sounds like she is going to college - she talked about the AP classes and tests she took last week.
Pulling a figure out of my rear end, I'm thinking she could sign for $250,000 per year plus time/team/medal bonuses.
Or she goes to college for free - that is worth around $60,000/yr if we are talking Stanford, less anywhere else.
I dunno - this is a tough one ain't it?
Probably she will finish hs as an amateur and then if she could legitimately medal in Rio then she'll turn pro with some sort of guaranteed tuition stipend written into he contract.
She has those crazy eyebrows. She needs a stylist.

I disagree. She will never be photogenic, sorry. Cute personality I guess, but will never be appealing visually. Galen #2 (except for the personality thing.)
Webb made a quarter million in his original contract and he had more hype/recognition/talent than any American HS runner in a quarter century at least (probably Mary Decker in the 70's was the last on this level). And while Cain is more talented than even Webb, which is just insane to think about, women's track isn't as popular and there is no majestic record for Cain to break like Webb breaking Ryun's mile record, also no women's time barrier has the mass appeal of a sub-4 mile. She could get low 6 figures from Nike when she graduates, probably up to what Webb got considering she has even more potential than Webb did when he graduated. Of course she can make more than that considering that as soon as she turns pro she'll be cashing prize money for winning serious pro races. The first year after she graduates I could see her making 200k-300k including contract and race winnings.
She should play up and concentrate on the Geek market, as a self-avowed "Epic Nerd." She could establish a niche that would potentially be more secure than the johnny-come-lately sports hottie market.
Jenny Barringer was offered 7 figures...
