A little background info - I started running in July 2012. Everything was going great until the first week in April! I had two very slow weeks, less then 10 miles a week due to illness and vacation. The week after we got back from vacation I put in a 30 mile week (normally was doing 20 before) that's when the dull nagging pain started in my left inner thigh. Didn't think much about it at first. It would normally only occur when running. The following week was a 20 mile week then did a 2 week taper before my first half. The morning of the half I felt great, very excited. Took 800mg of Motrin just in case (stupid move I know) and ran the half in 2:01! Felt great afterwards, didn't stretch as well as I normally did. The next couple days my quads were TIGHT bilaterally. The right thigh worked itself out but the left never returned to normal. Didn't run again until the Friday after the half, it was the slowest, most painful run in my life. The pain in my left thigh was sharp, every step I took sent pain shooting up into my hip. My leg felt weak. Did I stop? No! Ran two miles that way...stupid, yes. I was close to tears when I finally stopped.
Finally made an appointment to get it checked at my pcp office. I attempted to run the morning before the appointment. Wanted to make her it still hurt worse to run. OMG! Felt like my femur was driving into my pelvis. Made it a whooping 0.1 mile on the treadmill and had to stop. This was Thursday, almost a week after the terrible 2 miles. At the appointment she twisted, bent and pushed my leg which put me in tears. The X-rays were normal. Well, the PA tries to tell me she thought there was something wrong with my hip and I fractured my pubic rami (possibly during childbirth) but the radiologist read the reports as normal. Now I am waiting for the call to tell me when my MRI is scheduled for. The thing is the pain isn't as bad as it was. I am not limping when I walk. I attempted a slow run on the treadmill this morning went a crazy .25 miles it was not nearly as sore. Now do I carry out with the MRI? Do I just rest some more and hope for the best? If it was a stress fracture would it be getting better this quickly? Is it tendonitis? The thing that aggregates it the most is the pounding of my foot on the ground. Jumping on it sucks...not running sucks more. I am in a serious crabby, funk :/ help!
