She has not run a single track race this spring against prep competition of any kind and is never going to again. Her marks should not be considered for prep marks. She is in pro races every time, just not taking the prize money at least yet. In fact she is no longer eligible for HS competition in NY state so she shouldn't be listed on HS lists IMHO.
I am excited for her (although I still think all that is happening is her progress is being rushed more quickly and then she will level off and the question will be how she handles the failure to improve as she has done this season) and wish her the best but to say she is eligible for HS records is to say that Allison Felix should have had some collegiate records based on her marks during the time she was enrolled at USC but competing as a pro. Its not the money, its the intent. Mary has NO INTENT to ever run HS only races again and thus should not be eligible for HS records.
She has been paced in ALL of her races by pros that are running much faster than any HS comp could give her and subsequently has an unfair advantage as well in terms of setting prep records.
I never had a problem with Hasay or others who would set a record in a one or 2 off comp like at Trials after competing an entire season with prep athletes but this is a whole new situation.
