In a league meet of mine, two kids ran 4:22.79. Thank god for FAT timing, because they only had 0.004 seconds (4/1000ths of a second) between them. Stuff like this rarely even happens in pro sprints. What is the closest distance race you have ever seen/heard about?

The class 4A 3200 in the Texas State meet had a 6/1000ths between 3rd and 4th.
