you would have a great training partner in mary cain and together you two could rewrite the american records in every event from the marathon to the 800! hurry and do it now and you may beat cain in cross yet!

What is up with Baxter this season. Is she injured or something. I thought for sure she would be running in the 9:40s at least after her exceptional cross season.
She will still destroy Cain in XC in the fall.
She's taking it easy so far she ran a controlled 10:08 at mt sac and then a 10:06 a week or so later, she's got more in the tank for sure though
Cain could probably run around 15:20 for a 5k right now. Guarantee she blows the doors of Sarah Baxter in XC. She'll probably re-write the record books in XC too.
So I'm confused. Baxter is supposed to move to New York? I don't think op knows how this whole thing with Cain is working.
Baxter won't ever leave her high school teammates and coach.
Why, she beat her in December.
There's plenty of time to run fast, Baxter is doing it right and enjoying the HS experience. Cain is essentially a professional runner. Each is fine, just different paths.
They will be able to race each other plenty once there both here in Eugene going to Oregon in 2 years.
Sarah Baxter is actually doing it the right way. She is staying very low key. She is enjoying her high school experience like a normal high school kid. She isn't getting caught up in the limelight or forcing it too early. She is progressing the way any 16 year old should progress. I like the way her coach and parents are handling her high school career.
My guess is Sarah Baxter probably will probably stay in the Southern California area for college. I can see her going to Cal Poly, or USC, or UCLA. And she will do just fine. You won't Sarah have the under the microscope career that Hasay has been under. And I think that will be a good thing in the long run.
Distance running is a progression thing. There are ways to progress faster than normal. And this is not good mentally and physically for anyone. I want to see Sarah Baxter do well. And I think she is on the right track.
USC. Lol.
UCLA is a black hole where talent gets injured and disappears forever.
Cal Poly is too low key.
I say Stanford or Colorado. She won't go to Oregon, too much drama with Cain and Salazar. And who wants a "teammate" you never train with and gets special treatment?
She will go to Colorado. Given her abilities and potential in the 5k and 10k its a no brainer. If she cares about academics at all though, she will go to Stanford.
i would be so stoked is baxter came to cal poly. hollander and baxter. big things would happen in xc.
Colorado and Stanford lol Stanford makes thier runner alot worse and Colorado lol they suck at track and field well minus the stepple. Oregon has won 5 straight Pac 10/12 Championships on the Women's side and 7 straight on the Men's not to mention the Oregon Women have been runner up in the NCAA's the last 4 years but that will all change this year after Oregon wins the National Championship THIS YEAR OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Well, clearly Oregon taught you how to spell and form complete sentences.
Never said Oregon wasn't the better school (it is ). But I know footlocker finalists who did not go to Oregon because Jordan was going there. I know people on Oregon who despised the Rupp-Salazar show.
Baxter is on a long term plan, she is a good teammate, and grounded human-being. Why would she go there where Cain is (assuming she even goes there) with a girl with special treatment that is known to not play fair and have any desire to be a part of a team. That's what college is all about, not individual glory.
Have you coached girls? Have a wife? Daughter? Cuz you have no understanding of the female psyche.
CU has developed a few non-steeplers of note. How soon they forget!

Cain and another girl? Do know understand the English language?
You're a pathetic excuse for a human being attacking people from your computer. You're a first class F'tard.

She had already run 4:17 BEFORE Salazar. She had apparently stagnated because she was with people who were nowhere near her talent level, and her prior coach probably had neither the training nor the time to bring her to the next level.
Assuming drugs are not involved, a lot of what has transpired really isn't Salazar or any other coach. It's Mary. She's obviously insanely talented.
Baxter doesn't want to jump on thyroid meds and will have a long and fruitful running career. Just wait until mid-summer when Cain isn't running for Salazar anymore and lets see how she does then.
