Only a couple people with the 'B' standard after many of them putting all their eggs in the Oxy basket? You have to at least have the 'B' standard to be eligible to be placed into the pool of top 4 finishers at USATF's!

This is a great question.
Pre, St Louis, Nashville is a mile.
Adidas doesn't have a 1500.
Is the team set already with 3 'B's achieved in Centro, Leer, and Lamong?
3:36 Oxy guys won't run 1500 at USATF's
can't you chase the 'A' in europe after USAs?

nevermind, i get it
the top 4 finishers in the trials have until july 20th to get standards, they can either be under 3:35 at the 1500 mark in the mile as rupp did indoors, or they can run fast in the trials, or run another 1500 anywhere in the world, probably in europe before july 20th.
the rule is athletes can chase standards until july 29th, but the USATF for who knows why? is giving americans 9 less days to chase standards, thus the july 20th deadline.
anyway i am sure we will have 3 going to worlds, in spite of USATF shortchanging american athletes 9 days.
the USATF is also only letting us have 3 runners in the mens and womens marathon, while the world championships allow 5 per country, again shortchanging the athletes, thats for another thread though.
The question unanswered, and there is always a loophole with USATF is whether finishing top 4 is all that is needed to enter the "chasing pool".
Or, and had one person tell me this, do you at least have to have the B-standard and finish top 4 at USATF's?
Andrew Wheating is best example right now. (3:37.03)
Since 1500 splits out of miles (like at Pre) rarely qualify, do our best guys without the standard just concentrate on finishing top 4 or sould they start their chasing of at least the B-standard right now?
Its not just the mens 1500 that has a lack of A or B standards. Not many in the 800, 5k or steeple either and the womens events are not much better
What is allowed at this year's world championships? AAB? or do we need 3 A to send a full contingent?
they can always run a qualifier at pre or usatf
Don't be naïve, there will not be a qualifier run at miserable Des Moines in the 1500, 5,000, or 10,000.
Jager, Huling, and Cabral will all get 'A' standard in steeple at Pre Classic.
There is no standard to be gotten at Pre Classic due to mile instead of 1500 being offered.
I heard a rumor that the International Mile at Pre will be a 1500.
If you won the US trials and you only had the B and Centro and Manzano came in second and third. Would you NOT chase the A on purpose, just to improve your chance at worlds (keep out 2 former WC and Olympic medalists)?
Rome and Oslo coming up, Monaco later. If they can't run an A in one of those places, they're not going to be doing anything in Moscow anyway.
They will absolutely never change the mile at Pre to a 1500.
Are there amy meets to go to after USATF inside window for those that place top 4!

They can put a TAB timer at the 1500m mark as well.
Also I believe they have run a 1500m on Friday night for domestic competitors (separate from the Mile) in previous years.
1500, Centro, Manzano, Leer
All have B-standard and Centro, Manzano will get A-standard in europe easily inside window. Leet can't run 3:35.0 ever.
Steeple
Cabral, Jager, Huling will all get A-standard at the Pre Classic and finish in the order at USA meet to qualify for Worlds.
5000
In serious trouble outside of Rupp and Lagat.
It is idiculous that the rules aren't more clear.
My best guess is finish top 4 and you have priority to chase standard (if all go on to get A, then 1-2-3 go).
On July 20th, the highest finishers from Des Moines who have standards go.

oslo had the dream mile, meaning no 1500, and there is no mens 1500 at rome this year. rome entries.

I guess all you ignorant turds forgot about Lomong and Derrick blasting that fast indoor 5000? A standards, folks.
Now, maybe Rupp and Lagat are the only serious contenders on the world scene right now, but this thread is asking about A standard bearers.
AAB can go (world champs, this is consistent w/ prior years but different than Olympics).
I suspect the dream Mile would also put up a FAT timer at 1500m.
There are tons of smaller meets as well.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
