What works for you?
When you are stuck at a certain level and can't seem to get better, what seems to get you to the next level?
A lot of people just say run more miles, run more sprints.
For me, running more miles will help me from getting fat and running sprints may tune me up, but no, that doesn't really work. Although you do need a base, which I do with a lot of trail runs.
The only method that has ever really worked for me is to intentionally push myself to the point of exhaustion (do what other people call 'over-training') by opening up each run at a fast pace (either on a treadmill or a track) and then slowly allow myself to recover when my body finally gives out after a few days or weeks. To hammer myself day after day for a few weeks, then slowly let up. While I'm doing this, I'm monitoring form as well and carefully monitoring nutrition.
Nothing else has ever worked.
How do you shatter Plateaus that seem to withstand everything but the kitchen sink? Anyone else have success with other methods?
