You heard it hear first. And when it happens it will be arguably the best distance race ever run by a high schooler.

If a record falls and no one is around to live & free stream it, did a record truly fall?
Yes. Next question.

If a record falls the run must have been timed. FAT rules, not human witnesses of the event. If you are in the woods watch out for ticks.
If a record falls but the cones are too short is it still a record?
Quite a talent, but she isn't ready to run that fast. Her 4:10 was just a few weeks ago and that was maxed out. If she runs 4:08 or 4:09, but would be huge, but let's get real, sub 4:06 isn't going to happen this season.
She was all out, but keep in mind that the 4:10 was her rust buster after probably taking a dip in training or even a short break after indoors, like Rupp and Farah. After that 2:01, she should be in shape in a quick race with good comp to drop her pr at least 2 seconds and maybe 4, to 4:06 territory.

She ran 4:11 last summer.
I think she can run in the 4:06 - 4:07 range and be in the top 3; but she would almost have to run a perfect race for that to happen. Anything better would be insanely fast!
4:08.95 and takes home the American junior record (currently held by SFH 4:09.10 from 1987). Also good enough for the WC "B".
Whether or not she's in shape to run 4:06, she clearly is a cautious runner in the 2nd and 3rd 400m. She's going to have to build confidence in small increments.
Compared to our robust expectations, this may look soft. But it's worth remembering that record has stood for more than 25 years.
I don't think she is cautious she just knows that she has a kick and needs to be there at the bell. She is not trying to set the pace just be patient and wait for her time to move.
This is great, where is the race?
I see now, it is in LA.
Well, she ran 4:10 at Drake in very windy conditions, and then 2:01 in San Diego. If the rabbit does her job and Cain can settle in and just follow the pace, I can see her running the "A" standard.
I think we'll see 4:08/4:07 at best from Cain. Hope she runs faster but I don't think she will. The 2:01 was worth about a 4:10.
Get out of her panties you perve. She won't break 4:12

I found an IAAF calculator yesterday that was handy as going through the PDF tables is a pain. Can't find it now, but this is similar:
http://www.slsathletisme.com/Inscriptions/calc.php?lang=1
It gives a 4:08.18 1500 and 8:56.13 3000 as equivalent to 2:01.
i can't find the post but i remember analysing her 800 + indoor runs & it indicated she's capable in a perfect race of
~ 4'03
laff if you will, but iirc it indicated she's best non-chinese talent we've seen over 1500 for her age

I thought nobody ever ran a perfect race evne when pr'in. You always find some reason for them to have been slower.
4:08
