I heard a theory that consciousness is stored in other parts of your body. Have you ever heard of this?

Yes. This has been a theory for a long time.
Memory is stored in both the brain and body.
A researcher at Stanford discovered/proved this way-y back, I used to have his name memorized, har har.
Think of it like this: the mind, or consciousness, is in the brain, the brain is a part of the body. They work together.
So consciousness is in your brain and your body. I know it is confusing, your brain is both a part of your body and in your body. They aren't really separate. They are synergistic.
In any case, what there's NO evidence for is a "soul" (aka consciousness) *outside* the body. When your brain dies, your soul/consciousness dies as well.
Consciousness is a result of brain activity. It's not a file stored in one place, but a product of the complex network which carries information. Everything about consciousness reduces to this.

First, there is no evidence of a soul alive or dead. There is evidence of consciousness alive. So, my friend, you are talking about two different things. A "soul" does not equate to consciousness.
Secondly, there is no evidence that consciousness exits after brain death. But that doesn't "prove" there isn't consciousness after death, it only states the fact that there is no evidence of consciousness after brain death.
My consciousness seems to usually be concentrated in a body part approximately 30 inches below my brain.
