I disagree with Lagat, Symmonds and Leer moving up. Lagat is already running up in the 5k and has great closing speed. Symmonds is a 1:42 guy and unless he is guaranteed a medal in the 1500 he should stay with the 800 where he got 5th in the Olympics. He would have to be able to close with Mak Daddy and Kiprop to justify moving up. If he moved up, ran 3:32 and qualified for the finals in the world championships he would still be no where near the level he has achieved at the 800.
I agree with you with Lagat, but Symmonds might be more successful at 1500m. Centrowitz and Manzano have shown that a little speed at the end of a 1500m can get you far. They both have had more success internationally than Symmonds. Symmonds struggles with not enough low end speed to medal at the 800m.
Now I don't know if Symmonds can establish the aerobic capacity that the two others seem to have, but if he did he has enough speed to do more damage than Centrowitz.
