I decided to hit the track this morning out of curiosity to see what I could run an 800 in.
To give you my background, I have been averaging low 30 mpw for the past 6 weeks. I usually run between 5 and 7 miles a day 5 days a week at about 7:30 to 8 minute pace. Nothing outside of base mileage has been done, no tempos, no intervals, no speed work.
On the track today, I warmed up with a mile jog before stretching and doing some striders. Then, I ran the 800 and finished it in 2:17mid. What do you think I could run a faster 800 in after fitting in intervals and speed work? I'm in my early 20s.
