Cortisone functions as basically a more chronic version of an NSAID in a very specific region of injection. It has no benefit other than keeping inflammation at bay and is commonly prescribed by doctors for sports injuries (I have taken it twice, under the direction of my sports MD for painful inflammatory overuse injuries). In my experience, it has had no bearing on my fitness or ability to train, except to allow me to not have pain when getting back into training after injuring myself. Additionally, it is safer than NSAIDs, which can cause pretty serious stomach ulcer problems. WADA makes an exception if it is prescribed by a doctor, so why ban it in the first place? There's no reason to take it other than to help rehab an injury and it is not performance enhancing. Thoughts? This is not a troll, as I'm genuinely curious.
