This is the official keep Abbey running the 5000 thread. Now I understand her speed is her obvious weakness but instead of looking to switch the event, why don't work on her speed.
Despite what letsrun.com thinks, one can improve her 800 time dramatically why still focusing on the longer events. A good coach has the ability to coach speed and its not all talent. (800 meter runners improve year to year)
Look at Galen's improvement, he went from being a 3:59 miler to a 3:50 miler while focusing on the 10,000.
2:08 is not that impressive, but thinking that she won that twilight meet, she might have more in the tank. Running 2:07 is decent wheels, especially when there is so much room for improvement. She doesn't need 2:01 speed to medal, more like 2:02-2:04 speed and then will come in time with the right coach!
