Ok, so I realize that predicting potential is almost impossible, but I feel that with all the knowledge on these boards, someone may be able to give me an idea.
Ran my first half marathon in 1:38 as a slightly overweight smoker back in 2006, off of 2/3 months of unstructured ~30 mile weeks.
In 2008, at the age of 28 I decided to give up smoking and take my training more seriously. I put in some big weeks, but was inconsistent because of injury.
Despite this I managed to average 55 miles a week for 6 months before running a debut marathon of 2:47 (1:26/1:21 splits)
I then suffered a groin injury, which mentally was difficult to take. I began drinking and smoking again and it has been almost a year now without any form of exercise.
I've sought advice from specialists and believe I can rehabilitate this injury and return to hard training. That being the case what do people think my ultimate marathon potential is? and how long might it take to achieve?
I am 32 years old and believe I am very ST.
All constructive advice/thoughts welcome
