Will running 55-65 mpw over the next 14 weeks help me run a sub 17 5k xc race? Male, senior in highschool P.R is 19:53
it depends. Have you been running all through hs or is this your first year? Have you been running much less than that amount previously? What did you run in track?
last years xc was my first year running, in track my p.r was 4:56 for 1500 and 11:10 for 3000
Also I was avg about 35 miles a week for track
Don't you have a coach to confer with? Don't always assume that a bump in mileage is what it takes to increase fitness. Train smarter, not harder.
