For some reason, Elijah Greer referring to something he learned in class is just funny. Mostly because it's Oregon lol.

Also: "So if you can have five meters on someone, that means in his last 300 meters he has to run an extra five meters."
Great math skills as well.

I'm pretty sure everyone has to run 300 meters in the last 300 meters, no matter what kind of surge Mr. Greer puts in.
It's business math, not real math. His surge makes the other runners grow the pie by 5 meters.
i definitely LOL'd
lets run, where your stupid comments can become the quote of the day.
Bros, if you're ahead of someone in a race, then at some point they will have to RUN FASTER than you in order to beat you. So just always be ahead, and you can never lose.
He is saying that they will have to make up the difference in the same amount of time that he (elijah) runs the "regular" distance remaining.
Since time and distance are both components of a race, I think he's visualizing his tactics in terms of distance rather than limiting his visualization to time. Maybe he's just a smarter tactitian this year. He's certainly stepped up his game.
Almost every day I laugh at the QOD. More often than not, they're unremarkable.
Elijah: if you are the fastest guy in the field by over two seconds, yeah, you should go ahead and make the first move.

Yes he will have to run only 300m in his last 300m but that's still five extra meters - the other guy will only have 295.

The folks who brought you credit default swaps have invaded T&F!!!
I wouldn't read too much into what a college kid says when he is being interviewed, huffing and puffing after a race.
You know he is leaving out a lot, and just riffing.
He's leaving out things like "yeah, the pace was slow, and I knew that there was no one else in the race that could stay with me if I needed to run 1:46, so I just took the lead, gapped them, and then ran a pace good enough to win and not mess up my training session later..."
Or similar.
He should have said "if you make the first move, everyone else has to react to you", and stopped talking right there.
In the actual interview he corrects himself to "they have to CATCH an extra 5 meters that I've already caught on them."

Wait what? The other guy only runs 295 to Greer's 300? Are these magic meters?

I chose the QOD. I noticed he misspoke with the 300m thing, but I knew what he meant (which is the above) and figured others did to. I didn't expect people to pick it apart, but I guess I should have.
I should have just ended it with "reacting to you".
I liked the quote otherwise, although I'll admit there wasn't much else out there to choose from for Tuesday.
