What has the world come to when we are reporting workouts??
Remember Kara Goucher's 6 x 1 mile in 4:52 with 400m jog? That was a workout.
Desi is still getting back in shape from the time she lost due to her injury. This is very good for her at this time.
The main thing that she is feeling better...she will be back stronger than ever...
Neely Gracey also did mile repeats today and according to Facebook on a 400 meter jog she ran:
5:18
5:17
5:06
5:02
Both of them seem to be getting into shape nicely!
Neely was on the track (probably with spikes). Desi did hers on a hilly loop (without spikes). Completely different workout. Neely is preparing for track Nat's. Desi is content with being pain free.
cool! thanks for posting workouts. to me, this represents just getting back into the swing of things. a friend of mine did this exact same workout last week and he at best is a 2:40 marathoner.

He's running it too fast then for his fitness level. Add 30 seconds to what you hit for mile repeats to get your marathon pace.
So it was 1600, not a mile.

Pretty sure you can still run a mile on a track.
why did she not give up her Olympic spot so another runner could run in her place?!!!
The alternate was injured so there was nobody available to take the spots.

So what? Even for Desi that is a mediocre workout. Same old boring Hanson's workout. She needs to go someplace else and get some new stimuli. She isn't going to get faster only slower.

"completely different workout". Lol.
Different points in training? check
Different conditions? check
Different expectations? check
Claiming mile repeats at similar intensity, with similar recovery times are "completely different workouts"? ummm, whatever you say.
If so ( though not likely), then she probably did not have a 400m rest interval.

400 and 800 meters are "similar recovery times"?

Great point. Most of us thought that Desi would of had a much better career than 15:08--31:38 2nd in Boston Marathon and an Olympian. Coming out of College we all expected much more. Those Hansons have really let her down.
What were her College PB's again?
Screw you Hansons you big failures.

POTD
selfish to jog 2 miles in the olympics rather than give the spot to a serious racer.

The only person that she was allowed to give her position to was hurt. Hastings, Chebron, and Kastor had all pulled their names off the roster. There was no one else to run.
Now that is not the scenario on the mens side as Brett Gotcher was listed and healthy.
