Hello,
I have been diagnosed with a tear in my labrum (as shown in the MRI). I also have SI joint pain. At first the ortho thought my pain was from the hip tear but later decided it was coming from the SI joint instead. I have been in physical therapy for awhile now and still have SI joint pain. Occasionally, the side of the hip also hurts. Because I know there is a tear, I have it in the back of my mind the pain is really caused by it and not the SI joint. Seems I have more pain when just sitting and standing then when active. The professionals I have been seeing are a bit perplexed and said I could have surgery to fix the tear but there is no guarantee it is the source of the pain. Seems like a big risk. Does anyone have insight into this. Again, it seems I have more pain when sitting or sometimes when just standing than when I am active. I have cut back on my more intense activities, as advised by the physical therapist. The ortho said 60% of people have hip tears without any pain so again, I am so unsure as to what to do about all of this. The worst thing would be to have the surgery to fix the tear and still have pain. Please help! Thanks!
