that is pretty awesome him and his teammate are winning the state meet!
Anyone have any splits it seems odd to think more people couldnt have challenged a 9:30 3200 unless he laid down a quick last lap or so. Maybe the whole field ran a 5:00 1st mile and no one pushed so he did all of what was necessary to win

weather was at best crappy. moved the events to timed finals which pushed all the events closer to each other.
Looks like his team got second, with 30 points from Arroyo and 8 from his teammate in the Mile, losing by 2 to Olympia.
I was there it was pouring rain
Check out the men's 100. 10.81 in the pouring rain by a freshman!
Apparently Blake Bridget (no idea who that is) won the 1600 and 3200 for girls, while taking 2nd in the 800. Not a bad triple for her either.
I'm actually surprised that Florida with as large a population as they've got, doesn't have deeper talent.
Arroyo: 4:15.50, 1:54, 9:30.75

How about Bridget Blake since that is her name.

The sport is fairly secondary here and, from a middle/long distance viewpoint doesn't have the best weather or terrain for it.
Sprinting is a bit of a different story.

The weather and terrain are just fine in Florida for training. How is the state meet organized? Are there separate meets for big schools and little schools? Perhaps Arroyo is in a small school division?
The weather and terrain are not all that great for distance training as a whole.
The meets are in 4 classes by size and Arroyo is in the class with the largest schools.
Football is the top sport in FL. T&F gets little love in FL. Jeff Demps is a prime example.Arroyo, is a distance guy. Hopefully he gets a great scholarship, at a school that actually cares about distance running, and gets an opportunity to do the best he can, and get himself a good education at the same time.

The Florida weather is another reason Arroyo should focus on the 800, the event where he has shown the most talent and is closest to a national record. He's not gonna run 3:52 but he might run 1:45.
Look who was in the 4x800
14 Miami Sunset 'A' 8:29.78 2
1) Castro, Kenneth 11 2) Sotomayor, Xavier
3) Gunter, Malik 10 4) Diaz, Nick 10
Yes, look for this guy to do major damage in the future, I've never seen someone so physically developed and smooth at 15 years old, hopefully he's clean

What is wrong with the weather and terrain in Florida? There's no snow and no hills. Sounds perfect.
What a joke, florida not good for training? Come up to buffalo early november to early april and you'll understand. bring your snowshoes and ski goggles

800 blah blah nonsense
Why don't you run it then since you like it so much and stop whining and complaining on here - he's going to run what he wants to run - not what some jerk on a message board wants
How many states were competing?
