When he's in 3:50 mile shape, no.
If he trained a good year for the marathon, yes.
2:01:42
Yes. Quite easily- have you seen the guy run? He does it without praising God too.
yes. and he will, before 2016.
26:48 for 10000 means he SHOULD be capable 0f 2:03 (possibly dipping under the current world record in perfect conditions)-2:05 high.
if he can translate his 10000 to marathon, salazar has not had as good success coaching the marathon as 10000 yet.
by letting farah run the london marathon while he is at the top of his game at 5/10k, and at the SAME time saying he wont let rupp run a marathon until after the 2016 olympics, he is in my opinion using mo farah as his trial and error guinea pig for 2-3 years before he lets rupp run one.
in my opinion salazar has always favored rupp over any runner he has coached including farah.
aside from what you've read from trolls on the internet and their long-term relationship, what else leads you to believe this?
Assuming he has the same fitness and has time to put in some marathon specific training, yes. On a day like the day when Ryan Hall broke 2:05, absolutely, and I think he could do it on 2-3 months of marathon focused training. On any other day, given good conditions and a race like London or Chicago, he has the capacity, but it would probably take him a few runnings of the distance to get it down properly, so not in his debut. If he does end up focusing on the marathon for a few years, starting no later than 2017, I'd be a little surprised if he doesn't actually run sub-2:05 at some point.
Where will rupp debute? I still predict NYC since that's where AlSal made his first run.
According to the stats on Runworks.com, his 26:48 would put him at 2:03:29, but that also puts his half marathon time at 58:55. Since Rupp hasn't run that fast in the half marathon, then his full marathon time would be assumed to be a little slower than 2:03:29. I think if he can improve on his half marathon time to under 1:00, then I think he might have a shot at a 2:04 time...
Comparable times to distances from Runworks.com:
1500 m 3:26.8

So, Bekele's 26:17 is good for a 2:01:06?
Somehow I think that these time conversion tools are a bit off.
No. Because he will not run one. Not for a good 4 years at least.
You may as well ask whether my grandma could bench press 200lbs if she was a man.
you're gma does have a pretty broad chest...we can talk to some surgeons, start her on some some hormones, etc. we can test this!

Why do you think that? Bekele is head and shoulders above everyone in the 10k. Head and shoulders above everyone in the marathon would be under 2:02:00 don't you think? Wasn't Wanjiru running tactical marathons in 2:05? He was a 26:35 guy. Surely he could have run 2:03 or so if he time trialed a marathon.
I suppose you are alluding to his thyroid problems.
is that really considered doping by WADA?!?!?

No way in hell a 7:21 3k and 26:48 10k translates to a 12:51 5k. RUNNING CALCULATORS DO NOT WORK STOP USING THEM

Why doesn't a 7:21 translate to a 12:51? Can you explain?

well like the example i gave with farah and rupp.
I'm guessing because the guy that ran 7:20 also ran 12:39 - a lot of people probably consider the 7:20 superior to the 12:39 so 7:21 is likely a bit better 12:51.

I don't know, but maybe the fact that everyone not named Rupp eventually leaves. Just a guess.
