60k isn't much at all
I don’t understand you, and others, saying wives are parasites and you have to pay for them. Do your wives not work? Did you pick a woman who was too lazy of dumb to work a good job...?
Aren’t women’s careers what these feminists are working for? Lol.
The only time I think it makes sense for a wife to not work is maybe when he the kids aren’t under 5 and she can stay home w them (save on daycare, great for early development etc)
i came across this forum when i was google searching on ways i could have spent $60k after realizing i spent that much on women currently i am 29 years old never married no kids. i have been dating different ever since i got a real job at 20 years old.
i am currently making 28k living in midwest i must say you guys are way better than me and making serious money i agree
zero savings, living paycheck to paycheck 1% 401k is getting deducting after 2 weeks
i agree some wives/ gf are parasites specially considering my case i spent approximate of 60k i was just able to come with that figure while recalling my memory and money spend on them it might be even more than that.
0/10. Amazed you’re getting any bites at all
I live quite comfortably and travel quite a bit (around the USA) but by no means do I buy tons of random stuff.
Monthly Budget ($3000 after taxes)
$300 tithe
$520 invest into Roth
$500 into savings
$350 student loans (required payment is $260)
$200 groceries
$710 mortgage (includes Insurance, property taxes, etc)
$200 utilities (including internet)
$100 gas
That more or less takes care of it! I invest a lot more than most people my age (28) considering I also have 13% of my salary that goes directly into a pension fund (I’m a teacher). I also have two fairly substantial coaching checks a year that I don’t factor into the budget and use mainly for travel and extra items I’d like to buy. In a few years when my student loans are paid off I’ll barely know what to do with the extra money.
Man, it must be miserable to be this Lavayen guy. Ha ha.
I was on an exponential trajectory on wall st before I burned out. I was making $500K/yr at age 26.
My lifestyle was that of, say, upper middle class, and I just saved the rest.
I make a little less than that now, and still, I just save it. Want to retire before I'm 40.

holy crap. what did you study in college and where did you go?
A top CS program, with a double in math. I was very good and very ambitious and very lucky to have been in the right spot to make the impact I made. I was in the front office, but due to the technology background, I could do things no one else could very efficiently (not being dependent on a kludgey financial engineering org to get tech stuff done).
That said, I did burn out, and took two years off. Ended up leaving finance and going to software (FAANG), but now I'm back in finance.
A lot of my peers in college went straight FAANG back when web 2.0 was in its infancy (2004-2006) and are now way wealthier than I am. Ahh well.
I make right at 60k and it gets me pay check to pay check

Impressive. SAT score?
my 401k finally went up over 1 million. What should I do now? it is still a little early to retire (I am only 50) but I don't want to stay where I am, want to LIVE life!! I have to stay at my current job to cement in my pension (have to work another 7 years). just gotta figure out the next step.
