Hey I was just posting to see if anyone is familiar with the process of recovering from a stress reaction.
Long story short, what happened was I started feeling the symptoms of a stress reaction about half way through indoor, and I went to the doctor and he told me to take 2-4 weeks off without getting an mri or anything. I took 4 weeks off, and then came back and ran for 5 days, and the injury came back. At this point I decided to get an MRI and it showed that I had a stress reaction, and I needed 4 more weeks off.
My main question is, I'm about 2 and a half weeks into recovery, and I was wondering how my leg should feel at this point, and how my leg should feel when I come back in about 10 days. I'm asking this because my team really needs me for state (We actually have a good shot of winning this year) but I don't want to reinjure it and screw up my future (running at a D1 school next year on scholarship). I will have 3 weeks to train for state and I have been putting in a ton of good work on the cross training so I'm not concerned about my shape, just about getting reinjured and screwing up my future and having to take more time off.
Any input would be appreciated on how you would handle the situation and some warning signs I should look for in my leg when coming back, or deciding when to come back. If it was all along a stress reaction, I feel like 8 weeks is way to long (that's what it's going to total up to be) but I guess thats what the mri said so its gotta be right.
