He was from Washington. Read about him here:

Bill Iffrig is one of the coolest, most inspirational guys out there. Was running 20 minute 5K's well into his 70's. Glad to hear he suffered only scrapes.
Yes. Bill runs for CNW
Probably the best interview from this whole thing. Pure runner.
Interviewer: "How is your life going to change from this experience going forward"
Old Dude: "It's not"
Dude is cut. I hope I look half that good when I'm 78.
Espn has an interview with him. So glad he is okay.
Where is this quote? Which article?

Agreed. I saw him go down and then read an article online that he finished 2nd AG as at 78. The ESPN interview with him was great stuff. One of the best video clips I've seen all day. Good on ya, Bill.
Love Bill Iffrig. Reminds me of my father in all ways.
but he's probably not going back to Boston anytime soon..he quipped.

Sounds like an all around good guy. This could be the interview. 2:11 into it he say I don't think it will affect me too much.

+1. Funny how much you can just like somebody, and get a solid feeling that they are a geniunely good person from just a 2 minute interview. This guy.
Great photo of the guy on the ground---the Fallen Runner!
but--he got up and finished the race!
Bill Iffrig WTG
good interview he gave as well--78 years young and shrugs the whole thing off...just running a 4:00 marathon at age 78 is great
guys like him give all runners cause for pride
I'm glad to learn he is uninjured. I was afraid he'd been hit by a piece of shrapnel. 78 years old!
My thoughts as well, Unphased. But guys like he (and my dad) seem to go through life being very blessed. Bill is a multiple champion in Masters track 5 and 10K.
Bill is a phenomenal guy and runner. I have the pleasure of running in the same club and training with Bill on the track and trails on a regular basis. Everything everyone has said about him being a likable, genuine, all around great guy is absolutely true. He's also as tough as nails, as the story and interview implies. Glad he came through this tragedy with only scrapes and bad memories.
He makes me proud to wear orange. Not like I need another reason to be proud to wear orange.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
