Just frame-by-frame through the 100m markers. Looks like 9.7 or 9.8 at the 100.
Was there an official split on this? 14.4 is amazing (obviously), but a 9.7 or even 9.8 100 holding back shows insane sharpness at this point.
WR this year. Maybe 9.4.

He'll probably couple the preliminaries of the World Championships with slow, out-of-shape times to feign lake of sharpness then blow everyone away with a 9.55 to make it seem all that more impressive.
Wake me up when he can run these times clean.
Most boring runner I've ever seen - it's like watching a kid play a video game.
That's a pretty cool event at the beach.
He wasn't holding back, and appeared to fade in the final metres.
Nice dance party after the interview.
It's just great to be Usain Bolt.
Under 15 at this phase of the season is pretty good.
Especially for an event that was basically just a beach party.
I don't see him as relaxed and in control as he looked in 2008-2009. Part of what made those times he ran so impressive was how he seemed to accelerate and run away from a class field while letting up at the line.
If I remember right, Bolt ran something like 9.8x high when he ran the 150m world record. This was slightly slower.
I bet he came through 100m in about 9.90-9.95. The time on the screen tends to run around .2-.3 fast, just like in normal meets.
Bolt got 9.90 when he made 14.35 in 2009 in Manchester.
Now that he got 14.42 he probably got a little less that 10 seconds because hardly end of march he would get sub 4.40 between 100-150 when in manchester he got 4.45 and he was in better shape.
By the other hand 14.42 with a lot of heat and end of march, is AMAZING¡¡¡
Couple things...what was the wind?
Also the straightaway course appeared slightly downhill and also 9.8 for Bolt is not fast.
If you run 9.5 and 9.6 rather consistently in finals, and 9.7 very often in Europe several times a year then 9.8 is nothing.
9.8 guys have the same drop off, 10.0 or 10.1 is nothing to them in stupid races like this one.
I think Bolt is obviously still in 9.6-9.7 shape going into Europe. It seems this might be a rebuilding year for Mills to get Bolt's speed back up and he may focus on the 100 as Bolt has been noticeably slowing on his top end. Is 9.55 possible? Maybe. It would be nice to see Bolt focus back on the 100 and not the 100 and the 200 which was obviously slowing him down at 100.
Its not so easy to double when you're getting older, slower and you have a team mate named Yohan Blake.

Obviously slowing him down at 100?
He ran 9.63 last year.
Faster than he ran in 2010 or 2011 or any other human ever ran.
The second fastest time in history.
Looks healthy and fit, although he has run faster and the course seemed slightly down hill.
You didn't notice.
9.69 in no wind stopping with 10 meters to go
9.58 slowing down in .8 wind.
vs
9.63 in 1.8 wind running through the tape on a better track
His top end is noticeably slowing. Had Blake run his 9.69 race in the London final he would have won.
Bolt has now been a pro for 7 years and running very fast for 9 years. He's losing his top end and if he doesn't take a season to get it back he'll be done before Rio.
This is sprinting, Bolt is 6'5" which is fairly big and puts a lot of stress on the body. He'll probably be done by age 30 if he doesn't keep his top end and has to fight to get it back.
If he keeps slowing at his current rate he'll be running 9.75 basic in Rio which may be hard to medal (Bailey/Blake/?).
Bolt is very fast, and we will see it very soon.
He is so fast that he made 9.63 BEING INJURIED ONLY 1 MONTH BEFORE¡¡¡¡ He ran in OG only 90-95%
In Rome end of May he got 9.76 -0.1¡¡¡¡¡
With good start and healthy in London the WR is broken....
Is he losing his top end speed? I dont think it ;)
But yes, i think that 2013 will be his last year with options for WR, 2014 he will be running relaxed without big championships and in 2015 probably he will lose a little his big level(if he is without injuries he will be winning until 2016 Rio)

Everyone under performed in London. Blake only ran a 9.82 corrected. Wind corrected, Bolt was the only one that ran a SB. I don't believe the wind gauge.
Look at Bolt's 200 in London. He slowed down and still ran a 19.32. Without slowing it would have been a 19.2x
Yes, Bolt has lost speed, but I don't think he's going down for awhile.
Bolt looked slower and fatter. He looks aged for a 26 year old. Also he didn't seem to have that 'pop' he had in Beijing and Berlin.
Gatlin ran very near his SB, Gay ran his SB with a weak start, Blake looked way too nervous, and Bolt ran his a$$ off.
Bailey was obviously sore or tired from being stupid in his preliminary, Thompson and Martina were just happy to be in the final and Powell obviously had a blow out.
He lumbers like a big fat grizzly bear, and is about exactly the same speed as one.
The only difference is the big fat grizzly bear is the slowest of all the bears, while Bolt is the fastest of all the humans.

I'm not sure. People overestimate how fast what kind of shape he was in during Beijing. Sure, he slowed down in that 100m, but he really didn't lose that much in terms of velocity. Running through the line, he would have likely still been in the 9.63-9.64 range, and he ran 19.30 in the 200m gripping the entire way.
Berlin was his best. 9.58 is pretty close to his max potential, I think. He got the best start of his career, and closed as well as he has in any other race. 19.19 for 200m is also no joke.
If he can get another start like he had in Berlin, plus has a good reaction time, I THINK Bolt is still capable of something in the 9.53-9.55 range. His 200m can also come down a little bit. His speed endurance has never been phenomenal. I think he's capable of 19.0x, but may never actually get there.

OK, you're the expert :)
