1:42 behind the leader after running in the lead back for 4k I think? Third man in for Canada.
Hope he wasn't hurt.
Good run for Mo Ahmed in 22nd, though!

Yes, a little surprising. He really hasn't had a bad race for awhile. This was it.
Probably a combination of being better suited for the track and just having a bad day.
Bad race. It happens. Probably happens more often when you're running 180 mpw.
I had read somewhere (I think tnfnorth or cdn running) that he was sick heading into this race so it must have been quite a bad illness. He's not going to like to see Derrick 9th and Kipsiro 4th (guys he beat last track season).
Cam's Olympic Performance says he's definitely a WC athlete, but yes, he is somewhat overrated extrapolating from his NCAA experience.
You overestimated him, combined with the fact that he had an off-day. Derrick just beat Ritz and Teg in an XC race - he showed he was in better form than Levins was.

Don't think it's an overestimation of his abilities to expect him to be ahead of Ahmed and Chris Winter!

Not at all. He definitely had an off day and should've beaten his countrymen. But...not Derrick, who you claimed he should've easily dispatched of.

That's not true. He lost the NACAC XC Championships to Craig Forys a couple weeks before he ran 8:13 at Millrose.
So perhaps he's just in good track shape but not in good XC shape.

He was waaaaay overrated by the letsrun fanboys to begin with.
You didn't watch the 10,000 in London last summer?
He definitely had a bad race. He was the 3rd Canadian in.
He's done. All that slogging caught up to him.
At the strip club the night before. Seen in hotel room at 5am, said "ya I love dem strippaz"
Aren't bigger guys not worse off in the mud and slop? I figured that was it. And it seems like he performs better on the track than on the dirt.
Im a big Levins fan but after a result like this he must be thinking 'Why am I doing all these miles?'
If you have ever seen Levins run you can tell he is more of say a rupp than a ben true or even chris derrick. what i mean by that is you can tell from his smooth, long running style rather than a choppy, efficient grinder style, that he is more of a track / grass xc type. This race is nothing like ncaa cross or a 10k on the track where big engines and smooth relaxed form prevails. This was a max effort to run as powerfully as possible and move forward from the first 400m. It was a true xc race, not neccasarily an indication of who would run the fastest half marathon or 10k right now. If it were a half marathon or 10k Cam would have finished closer to where you might expect.
Fair enough!

You mean the pathetically slow race where basically everyone was in it with a lap to go and he was nowhere close to winning or even medalling? That one?
