according to flotrack they will race early in the season probaly for publicity. the date has not been determined but this will probaly be the highlight of preseason for me!

That will be epic. Both used to run the 400 as jrs., so they both know the event.
My money's on Rudisha.
Isn't even funny. Bolt HAD a 43.6 relay leg during 2010 PRESEASON.
Rudisha is a 45 low/flat runner at his peak.
The race should be over 500 meters, in a special-sized track.
Bolt wins in 44.88
I'm going with Rudisha - the 400 is closer to the 800 than the 200 is to the 400.
Rudisha is used to suffering and beating people by being tougher than the other guy...Bolt is used to winning by just being faster.
in other words, I don't think Bolt is used to gutting it down the homestretch while suffering like you do in the 400. Rudisha pulls away at 320 meters and wins it.

1. relay legs are not a great measure of a real 400. Anybody can chop off .5-1 second with a running start.
2. Bolt was lying on his back trying not to die following his early season open 400. He was absolutely spent. Meanwhile, Rudisha would still have enough left to jog a cooldown lap after that effort.
My money is on Rudisha. Although, it's hard to say if they'll both take it seriously since it's supposed to be for charity or some such thing.
Huge.

1. The winner is the person that crosses the finish line first. Whether or not they can jog a cool down lap afterwards is highly irrelevant.
2. Bolt's 43.6 relay even plus 1 second is still faster than anything Rudisha has run, no?
Bolt would easily be the favorite in my mind if both are in top fitness.
Bolt could move to the 400 and be a medal contender.
Rudisha couldn't.

1. Yes. I never said that wasn't the case. You extrapolated that. I merely said Rudisha could run the same time (or better) and then still jog a cooldown afterwards, while Bolt would need an IV.
2. You are correct. But Rudisha has not run a 400 meter relay leg (that i know of), so you are making an unparalleled assumption.
The only problem with this match-up is that neither is even close to being the best in the world over 400m.
The argument for Johnson and Bailey is that one of them likely was the best in the world over the 150m distance.
I think the race will be slow and look similar to two top ranked boxers engaging in a judo match.
This will be really good. Rooting for Rudisha. However, I've learned that just because Flotrack is hyping something up doesn't mean it's happening.
It should be a 500. 400 will be too lopsided toward Bolt, 600 too much toward Rudisha.
Easily Bolt, not a question at all. At least I think so...
Bolt should win. Only because because it's technically lob sided toward his speed. If it was a 450m Rudisha would win.
Bolt will win. He is a sprinter. 400m is a sprint. He has run faster than Rudisha has already.
It would be much more interesting over 500m.
Watch Bolts 30.97, he was so so tired that I just don't think he's going to give this a serious effort. Maybe 45 flat which is probably what shape he's in when he's sub 19.5/9.75.
I'm going with the 800 guy- mainly because I was an 800 guy. But, when I was in high school we had a real good sprinter- 10.4(ht) and 21.9(ht) and I was a sub 2:00 runner.
We raced in a dual over 400.
Yes, it was 30 yrs ago but I'll never forget the look on his face at 300 meters when I smiled and pulled away- I ran 50.3 he was 54.xx.
THERE IS NO RACE SCHEDULED.
