I'm racing the 800m (just the 800m only) in three weeks at the USATF Indoor Masters.
I can no longer recover from a hard track workout every other day. Assuming a track workout every three days and 8-9 days taper, I can do five more serious workouts before taper starts. What would you recommend?
As background, my 800m workouts so far in Jan-Feb have been all short reps of 100 and 200s with a cumulative volume of 4500-6000 meters. My last two workouts were a bit longer: 24x250m at mile race pace and 6x300m at 800m race pace or 2-3 sec slower on 3 1/2 min recovery. On the recovery days, I jog 2-5 miles with my dog and do some strides.
