rest in peace
So sorry for the loss up at UVM. Thoughts and prayers to go out to his family and teammates.
the article says dad ran for "Plattsburg State" (not Pittsburgh State), though I haven't heard of it
Sad story. Any updates or info on the cause of death?
SUNY Plattsburgh, maybe?
RIP. Condolences to the family. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child.
No updates yet
"The University of Vermont released no additional information Tuesday morning regarding the death of Jamie Love, the student found dead Sunday in his room at the Redstone Lofts early Sunday.
“I checked with Police Services,” university spokesman Enrique Corredera wrote in an email sent Tuesday morning. “They tell me the case is still under investigation and there is no new information to share.”
As of 10 a.m., Love’s death certificate had not been filed with the Vermont Department of Health, according to agency spokesman Robert Stirewalt."
Very sad news. Way too young. RIP Jamie!
My thoughts are with the Love family and the team at the University of Vermont. I am sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the correction. I'm a Steelers fan, and filled in a few letters.

Pittsburg, no -h.
RIP to the UVermont runner, condolences to his family and friends.
I'm a UVM grad and ran on the XC and track teams there, and when I was a sophomore, a junior on the team drowned in a whitewater rafting accident. His name was also Jamie. Naturally at that age I hadn't been touched by the specter of death very often within my own peer group, and it was one of those things that really threw all of us for a loop because he was one of those typical laid-back, low-key guys who wasn't fast but was the first to make every freshman on the team feel welcome at the first practice.
Hang in there, Catamounts.

Condolences to all who knew him. I work at a gym in Armonk, NY and heard the news this morning from a member. Very sad. Thoughts and prayers...

I did not really realize it until I read this sentence, which sounds very reasonable and appropriate. Then I realized that, for me being that age during Vietnam, it was a lot different. At one point I knew more people that had died than had come back uninjured from the war. I was lucky to avoid going to basic training until they were withdrawing everyone -- no new deployments.
This thread is of interest because my neighbor is a Catamount athlete in a different sport.
Jaime was from a long line of student athlete runners from Byram Hills High School Track and Field. Our guys and girls ran at Cornell, Penn, Yale , MIT, NYU , Colgate Binghamptom , Holy cross Maryland Columbia just to name a few in addition to UVM . Countless others didn't compete on a college level but kept running afterward for the love the sport .
When this happens to one of us we all hurt
And we all are behind his family

I had a XC teammate who was killed when I was in high school - he was hit by a train. One of the most shocking things ever. I remember coming to high school that evening for a track signup meeting and seeing the HS school psychologist there and students crying. horrible thing (this was ~10 years ago)
RIP and my condolences
