He's doing 600m at millrose on the 16th against Solomon. Should be good.

He doesn't coach Farah, Alsal does...wtf??
Nick tested new waters in Malibu recently but no sponsors took him up on it so he reluctantly had to go back to Meth Town USA. I hope rules open up soon so Nick can join us.
NS is a hypocrite for bitching up a storm about restrictive sponsor rules but then sticking with the most restrictive sponsor of them all -- nike, which bans other sponsors with an iron fist.
We Brits generally disklike Ian Stewart. All the reports I have heard indicate he is arrogant, rude and always trying to claim the glory for coaching athletes he has nothing to do with (Farah the best example).
Just because he was head of endurance for UKA he seems to think that means he can claim to have been involved in coaching any UK endurance athlete that achieves some level of success. Everyone knows that Farah was coached by Alan Story (coach of Sonia O'Sullivan amongst others) for a long time before he moved to Al Sal but Stewart never acknowledges that and tries to claim the plaudits.
He has been abusive to many of the British Athletes. Andy Vernon ran 13:23 and 27:53 early last track season but then got a stress fracture and missed out on more attempts to get the Olympic A standards. He wrote on the British athletics site Eight Lane that he had tried to say hello to Ian Stewart and shake his hand at in the Olympic park during the games but was told to F*** Off. Stewart was only interested in people when they were fit and running well. He also told Anthony Whiteman, who ran a sub 4 mile at the age of 40 to f*** off when he enquired about getting into one of Ian Stewarts meetings. He is an arrogant bully and it seems he was escorted off the premises at UKA head quarters. Good Riddance!

I know absolutely nothing about this Ian Stewart, but I have to say that I'm loving the hate expressed for him.
Some people just have it coming, and should pay a proper price for how they act. Nice to hear some heartfelt commentary on the guy's character.
What do you Brits think?
Ian Stewart has a history of anger issues. Once, when his brother, Peter (also a very good runner in his own right) tried to take a bath before Ian -Ian threatened to shoot him there and then. Fierce temper, but great runner. Ian coined the phrase 'First is first, and second is nothing' - he viewed his 3rd place in Munich (5000) as failure. Had the race been 50m longer he would probably have won. He was closing faster than anyone in the race, including Viren.

given Prince William is a Royal Marine Iraq vet & Prince Harry is an SAS pilot and Afghanistan vet, Ian in his little knickers....

I always love it when people say this. It greatly simplifies my life. I know that it is safe to henceforth ignore the words of such a fool.
You youngins needs to lurn somethin faxtueell fur 1nce.
It's because of one man, Ian Stewart, that we've had decades and decades of "Could Have, Should Have, Would Have" jokes about Steve Prefontaine.
You silly little NS fanboys need to grow up and stop whining like little 7 year old biotches. "not invited" does not equal "barred". He didn't get invited to the meet. Not the same as being actively barred. Grow up.[/quote]
HA. What a maroon. "Not Invited" means that an agent has attempted to get his world-class athlete into a race, and that athlete was summarily REJECTED.
Let me guess, you don't know sh*t about the professional game.
Ian Stewart was a small penis of a man. To use the word "bully" would have given him an extra inch of the 2 inch prick that he was. Anyone who supports this "man" should not be considered a friend of the sport.
I just hope the corrupt Stephanie Hightower is remembering ever lover she has ever had before she married this little man and laughs.
Douchebag Ian Steward asked Alberto to coach Farah...

No, he would have mistimed his finish to a point 50m further on. Actually he was dropped and there was not much he could do about it
more on Ian Stewart here http://www.athleticsweekly.com/blog/tough-guy-stewart-will-be-missed/
Pretty much what I was going to post. Stewart a bully? Gimme a break, that gives the little turd too much credit.
It must be something to behold when little Ian tries to satisfy his wife, cause you know it ain't happening. Hilarious.
Word is that Ian's departure was being negotiated for months. He refused to leave and when threatened with other means to remove him , he left.
Its like the cold hardened killer being led to the death chamber crying like a baby fighting the whole way there.
In real terms Ian has been a dead man walking for some time now.

Fiddlesticks & poppycock.
Keino never retired, or semi-retired. He was just as relevant in 1970 & 1971 as he was in 1972.
Ummm, remind me again who won the 1971 Munich Pre-Olympic meet (the biggest track meet of 1971)?
Ummm, remind me again who won the 1971 USA VS Africa 1,500 in Durham, NC?
Ummm, remind me again who won the 1971 Pan African Games?
Ummm, remind me again who won the 1971 Wanganui mile?

He not only 'barred' Nick, but also Lolo Jones, who both were ranked very high going into that meet. For what was supposed to be a 'diamond series' meet, not inviting top talent who reached out to him and expressed interest is barring them.
He essentially ACTIVELY tried to make the meet lackluster instead of bringing in higher talent.

I'm no fan of his style but do you think a meet director invites every top runner to each event
If someone puts their price too high then they are out.
and for a lot of those eighlane moaners do they really think uk distance running is suddenly going to improve now he's gone. As Ian would have said 'f off'!

Widely accepted to be a jerk. He's rude to athletes all the time (except Mo), tries to take credit (e.g. for introducing Mo to Salazar and it all being his plan), and has generally wound up most people who crossed his path. Some recent grumbling here...
