Much was made this summer about Nick being barred from the London DL by Ian Stewart - the head of UK Athletics distance - who also happens to be husband of USATF president Stephanie Hightower: http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=4684812 Just came across this Daily Mail headline, "Stewart leaves British athletics under a cloud after coaching Farah to gold" where it says Stewart, who apparently was rude to some Brits, is out of his job in the UK. Good riddance, and same goes for Glenn Latimer at USATF. Of course, hopefully Ian doesn't finagle his way into a USATF position and treat the American athletes like crap (while the 'higher ups' turn a blind eye). |

Now can we also get him kicked out of being the Race Director for the London DL meet? |

Stewart will land on his feet , lets hope its has nothing to do with US track and field. He is bad news , a nasty , self serving arrogant SOB , conflicted with small man syndrome. He offers nothing. Lets hope others will come out about his abusive nasty nature. |

uhhh, he already has too much to do with USA Track and Field. You know who he's married to. Unfortunately, now that the Brits have quite rightly kicked his a$$ out, he may have much more time to screw up hard working US athletes. Can't we get George Hicappie to say he used drugs or something? |

?under a cloud? He got FIRED! smacked flat on his a s s like Venegas, Lanana, Martin Smith, Weir, Floreal, Andy Gerard, Huffins ;-) |

For those that don't know him, Symmonds seems like an ideal American hero to root for. He publicly launches an overly obnoxious campaign to get the attention of USATF, outwardly seeming that he wanted change for the sport. In reality, all he wants is more money for himself. If that gets other athletes more money too, then great. He's as big a sellout as they come and would do just about anything for another dollar. Anyone willing to sell temporary tattoos, then wear them, but cover them up is just trying too hard. While I agree advertising rules needed to be changed, he goes through improper channels. Simply put Symmonds ruffles way too many feathers and I was glad Ian Stewart put him in his place year and excluded him. He needs to mature and learn the proper way to handle business is not to run your mouth, instead being polite and expressing gratitute at oportunities gets you further. |

New. NS is fine to want money for himself and athletes. |
| You serious? |
| ||
You say it like it's a bad thing. Get a grip on reality, nowadays, T&F needs more people like NS, not IS who offers the sport at this point NOTHING. |

after coaching farah to gold??? salazar coached farah to gold. |
| yeah, duh |
| ||
|
Dude, he cheered him on during races. Like, a lot. And like, he probably put in a good word for Farah. |
| Just grow up |
| ||
You silly little NS fanboys need to grow up and stop whining like little 7 year old biotches. "not invited" does not equal "barred". He didn't get invited to the meet. Not the same as being actively barred. Grow up. |
| You serious? |
| ||
|
Barred, not invited, whatever. That's hardly the point, and NS's involvement is hardly the point. What ever one's personal opinion of IS or NS is, fact remains T&F will be a more healthy sport, attracting more talents and keeping elite athletes competing for longer if the sport evolves toward something resembling the model espoused by NS and other elite elite athletes, such as S. Richard-Ross and U. Bolt to name but a couple. Stewart is just a dinosaur, more hurting the sport than anything else really. |

Good riddance. How sweet would it feel to hear Stewart's weasel chin crack under your fist? Stewart's face should be next to "smarmy" in the dictionary. |

Yes, this has always worked well throughout history. Just like when MLK kept his mouth shut and was thankful for the opportunities that Jim Crow laws and (gerrymandered) voting rights gave him. Just like all those women in the late 1800s and early 1900s who kept their mouths shut and were simply grateful that their husbands and fathers could take their interests into account when voting. Oh wait... |

I know absolutely nothing about this Ian Stewart, but I have to say that I'm loving the hate expressed for him. Some people just have it coming, and should pay a proper price for how they act. Nice to hear some heartfelt commentary on the guy's character. What do you Brits think? |

You, my friend, are what is affectionately known as a damned fool. Nick Symmonds wants more money? And this is a crime how exactly? Basically he is trying to get more of the money in track and field flowing to the athletes. Anyone who thinks that this is a bad thing and that having all the power and money accrue to a bunch of bureaucrats, as is the case today, is, well, a damned fool. Congratulations! |

BTW - While we're on the subject, where is Nick Symmonds per the current racing schedule? No indoor season? |
